On May 15, at Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) held a workshop to collect policy opinions on the draft revised Law on Higher Education. The workshop was attended by Southern higher education institutions.
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said that in recent years, Vietnamese higher education has achieved many clear achievements, but there are still shortcomings that need to be identified and overcome.
According to the Deputy Minister, society is placing high expectations on this amendment to the Law. This amendment will create a legal corridor for higher education institutions to break through and develop more strongly in the coming period.
In particular, aiming to simplify and harmonize the higher education system, avoiding overlap between current legal regulations. One of the important orientations is to increase autonomy for higher education institutions.
The draft Law on Higher Education (amended) inherits about 55% of current content, while significantly reducing the number of administrative processes and procedures.
At the workshop, Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) Nguyen Tien Thao also introduced policy proposals of the draft revised Law on Higher Education.
