On June 19, the 10th Grade Admissions Council of the 2025 High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities announced an adjustment to the plan to announce the scores for the 10th grade entrance exam.
Accordingly, the exam scores will be announced before 5:00 p.m. on June 27, instead of being announced before June 20 as originally planned.
This year, the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities received applications from 2,037 candidates, an increase of about 500 students compared to last year. Of which, the Literature class is the largest with 1,191 students. The History and Geography classes have 484 and 362 students registered, respectively.
The school opens enrollment for 4 classes, including 2 specialized classes, 1 specialized class in History and 1 specialized class in Geography. With an average of 35 students per class, the highest competition rate in the Literature class - 1/17, meaning that on average, only 1 student out of 17 candidates was admitted, higher than last year's rate of 1/13.3. This figure in the History major class is nearly 1/14 and the Geography major is about 1/10.
Last year's benchmark score for the Literature major was 8 points, for the History major 7.5 points and for the Geography major 7 points. However, the admission score this year will change a lot because students take 4 subjects (Math, Literature, English and Business), while last year, they only took each major.
The test score is calculated on a scale of 10. The admission score is the total score for the General Literature exam multiplied by a coefficient of 1 and the professional exam with a coefficient of 2. At the same time, the candidate's general subject score (Math, Literature, English) must be 4.0 points or higher and the professional exam score must be 6.0 points or higher.
As a specialized school under Hanoi National University, the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities is admitted nationwide, independent of the public entrance exam for specialized and non-professional grade 10 by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.
