On March 31, Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee issued the 10th grade enrollment plan for the 2026-2027 school year. Accordingly, public high schools will enroll students by admission method.
Specifically, 5 specialized schools will organize entrance exams, including: Nguyen Du Specialized High School, Luong Van Chanh Specialized High School, N'Trang Long Ethnic Minority Boarding High School, Dam San Ethnic Minority Boarding High School and Phu Yen Ethnic Minority Boarding High School.
For private general schools and some units such as Tay Nguyen Secondary and High School, Cao Nguyen Practical High School, Training and Sports Competition Center, a separate 10th grade enrollment plan will be developed based on the general plan of the Provincial People's Committee and must be approved by the Department of Education and Training.
Previously, after many years of applying the form of admission to grade 10, in the 2024-2025 school year, the provincial education sector organized entrance exams at 12 public high schools. In the 2025-2026 school year, all students applying to public high schools must participate in the entrance exam.
The results of the 10th grade enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year show that the whole province has nearly 1,900 exam papers with failing scores, causing many schools not to enroll enough students. After that, the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training had to adjust down the benchmark score to ensure the number of students.
By the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year, with more than 22,000 candidates taking the exam, many schools have very low admission scores, only from 2.5 to 4 points.
In addition, Lao Dong Newspaper also once reported that the 10th grade entrance exam in the area was too expensive while the quality was not as expected. Many teachers and parents in the area also expressed the view that functional agencies should return to the form of admission consideration, to be more suitable for the specific characteristics of the province.
