Timely support for schools and teachers
On August 9, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoan - Chief of Office of Nghe An Department of Education and Training - said: "Faced with the huge damage caused by floods of educational institutions and teachers, and workers in the sector in the mountainous districts of the West, the education sector has determined to focus on maximum support for schools, teachers, and workers, to promptly open the new school year.

As for textbooks, the industry is committed to mobilizing all resources to join hands to support, ensuring that no student lacks textbooks in the new school year.
Previously, on August 8, a working group of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training led by Prof. Dr. Thai Van Thanh - Director of the Department directly visited localities that suffered heavy damage due to natural disasters to inspect the work to overcome the consequences, prepare for the new school year and donate nearly 1.2 billion VND to support affected schools and teachers.
The support level for schools is from 25 - 300 million VND/school and for teachers is from 5 - 10 million VND/person.
Vietnam Education Publishing House has also donated more than 10,000 books to Bac Ly 2 and My Ly 2 Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.

The historic flood that occurred at the end of July 2025 damaged and swept away the facilities of many schools. At My Ly 2 Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, the entire school was destroyed and could not be repaired; Bac Ly 2 Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities was flooded with mud for more than 1 meter, many teaching equipment and boarding facilities of students and teachers were damaged. Many other kindergartens and primary schools in Ta Ca and Muong Xen were also flooded, with fences, classrooms and equipment being swept away.
Immediately after the flood, hundreds of teachers inside and outside the district volunteered to help clean up and repair; many schools in low-lying areas brought tables, chairs, books, and school supplies to support colleagues in flooded areas. The whole industry has launched a "school helps school" movement, mobilizing more than 3 billion VND and thousands of working days to overcome the damage.
Do not leave students in flooded areas behind

Director of Nghe An Department of Education and Training Thai Van Thanh said that the Government has supported Nghe An with 300 billion VND, the province has also allocated 50 billion VND for the education sector to overcome the consequences of floods. This amount of money will be allocated promptly to repair and purchase equipment, ensuring minimum facilities before opening.
Do not let any students stay home from school due to lack after the flood Mr. Thanh emphasized and at the same time requested schools to urgently count the damage, propose specific needs to receive support as soon as possible.

For schools that are not safe enough, the industry will temporarily arrange students to study at other schools to ensure safety and opening progress.
"The education sector is determined to support the school and teachers to stabilize their lives soon and return to the new school year soon. I hope teachers will continue to make efforts to overcome this difficult period" - Mr. Thai Van Thanh shared.
The education sector is one of the areas most severely affected after the historic flood that occurred in the mountainous areas, the western border of Nghe An province at the end of July 2025. According to the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, at least 52 schools were affected, of which 18 schools were deeply flooded and severely damaged, many teachers and school staff had their houses and assets washed away, the total initial damage was estimated at hundreds of billions of VND.
