National Economics University this year recruits about 9,000 students, mainly for admission in combination with candidates with IELTS certificates from 5.5, SAT 1,200 or higher.
The combined admission method is designed for 3 different groups of subjects:
Group 1 includes candidates with an international SAT or ACT certificate. Candidates must have a SAT of 1,200 points or higher or an ACT of 26 points or higher.
Group 2 is contestants with competency assessment test scores from Hanoi National University (HSA), Ho Chi Minh City National University (APT), and thinking assessment test scores from Hanoi University of Science and Technology (TSA). Candidates will consider independent test scores or a combination of international English certificates.
In which, candidates need to achieve HSA from 85 points, APT from 700 points, TSA from 60 points; IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 46 or TOEIC (4 skills: Listening and Reading - 785, Speaking - 160, Writing - 150) or higher.
Group 3 is for candidates who use a combination of international English certificate conversion scores with high school graduation exam scores in Mathematics and English.

In 2026, Hanoi University of Science and Technology plans to have 3 admission methods in 2026, including: Talent admission; thinking assessment test scores; high school graduation exam scores.
The talent admission method is divided into 3 groups: Direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; admission according to capacity profile combined with interview; admission according to international certificate.
With the admission method according to international certificates, candidates need to have an average of 8 or higher for each school year of grades 10, 11, and 12; have at least 1 of the International certificates: SAT, ACT, A-Level, AP, IB. For international certificates with subject component scores assessed in letter systems, the table converts to scores as follows:

With a foreign language certificate, Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that candidates with IELTS from 5.0 or equivalent can have their points converted or have their points added when applying.

For English-language teaching programs, candidates must achieve VSTEP at level B1 or higher, IELTS 5.0 or higher or have a high school English graduation exam score of 6.5 points.
In particular, international joint programs such as TROY-BA, TROY-IT, FL2, schools require VSTEP B2 or IELTS 5.5 or higher.
Vietnam - Japan University (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) this year has set a requirement that if you want to register for admission based on your SAT score, candidates must achieve a minimum of 1,100/1,600 points.
With the consideration of foreign language certificates combined with graduation exam scores, the school converts the certificate score to Foreign Language score, plus the graduation exam results of the remaining two subjects. The conversion method will be announced later, according to the regulations of Hanoi National University.
The Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology plans to enroll about 8,000 students in 2026 with 5 admission methods, including SAT and ACT scores.
In addition, the school is considering combining IELTS and TOEFL certificates with high school academic results but has not yet announced detailed criteria.
In 2025, with this method, the school requires candidates with an average score of 7.5 or higher for three years of high school, good conduct with IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 65, TOELF iBT 500, to be eligible to apply for admission.
