The 2024 - 2025 school year marks an important turning point for grade 12 students as they are the first students to take the high school graduation exam under the 2018 General Education Program. The new program with changes in content, teaching methods and exam form has created many surprises and concerns for both teachers and students.
The suspension of extra teaching according to Circular 29 regulating extra teaching and learning also makes many students, especially those with average and weak academic performance, feel worried about reviewing.
Understanding those difficulties, many teachers in Can Tho City have volunteered to give free exams to grade 12 students. These review sessions not only help students consolidate their knowledge and practice their homework skills, but are also a place for them to share their concerns.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Do Thanh Thien - Principal of Vinh Thanh High School (Vinh Thanh District, Can Tho City) - said that, based on the changes in Circular 29, the school no longer organizes extra classes as before, teachers in the school have submitted volunteer applications for free exam preparation for students.
The school has developed a plan for reviewing for grade 12 students. For about a week now, the school has been organizing free reviews. I am very happy that 100% of grade 12 teachers in the school are volunteering to participate and accompany them in the upcoming important exam, said Mr. Thien.

According to Mr. Thien, this school year, Vinh Thanh High School has 412 students studying in grade 12, divided into 10 classes. Students are given 2 subjects/session reviews, after the regular school period. The exam preparation time will last from now until the day of the high school graduation exam.
In addition to reviewing the exam under the guidance of teachers, the school also takes time for students to organize group study to discuss and answer the types of questions according to the new program.
At Bui Huu Nghia High School (Binh Thuy District, Can Tho City), Ms. Cao Thi Ngoc Ha - Principal of the school - said that the school has encouraged teachers to promote their spirit and responsibility towards students. Teachers proactively arrange their teaching content, both ensuring new content according to the program and also ensuring review for students with enough knowledge to take the high school graduation exam.
Currently, high schools in Can Tho City are flexibly rebuilding the exam review and classification plan for students and not implementing socialization as usual, ensuring that teaching and learning are not interrupted, helping students feel more secure in the process of preparing for the upcoming exam.

According to the direction of the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City, while waiting for the City People's Committee to issue regulations on extra teaching and learning in the area and documents guiding the organization of extra teaching and learning from the Department; units should pay attention to propagating in many forms to managers, teachers, students and people regulating extra teaching and learning according to Circular 29.
Heads of educational institutions are responsible for organizing and managing extra teaching and learning in schools according to regulations; at the same time, they are responsible for managing teachers participating in extra teaching outside of school in accordance with the instructions and regulations of Circular 29.
