More than 1.16 million candidates nationwide have completed the 2025 high school graduation exam. Currently, the marking work is being carried out and according to the plan, the exam scores will be announced on July 16.
Ms. Hoang Thi Nguyet Anh - Head of the Math Group of Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted (Bac Ninh province) commented that this year's high school graduation exam is completely different from previous years' exam. This clearly shows the spirit of innovation, requiring students to think differently from previous years' exam questions.
Specifically, with the Math and English questions, in terms of structure, the exam is similar to the sample questions that the Ministry of Education and Training has announced. The content of knowledge according to textbooks, theoretical sections have been linked to practical problems. The exercise section also contains problems applied from practice.
Because of these innovations, Ms. Nguyet Anh predicted that the number of candidates with high scores will still be no less than in 2024, but in terms of general education, there will be a broader differentiation, not concentrated in short sections from 25-27 points.
"This year, the average score can be spread out to 18-19 points. This will also change the level of admission scores to universities quite a lot, especially for block D01 (Math, Literature, English), there will be fluctuations to decrease by at least 2 points" - Ms. Nguyet Anh said.
On the side of higher education institutions, many schools predict that the admission score based on high school graduation exam scores this year will have many fluctuations and decreases compared to last year.
Predicting the admission work in 2025, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung - Director of the Academy of Finance said that the academy will have a wide standard score range that can be from 22 - 28 points, not as concentrated as in 2024 (from 26.03 - 26.85 on the 30th scale and 34.35 - 36.15 on the 40th scale).
"The benchmark scores of some training majors of the Academy of Finance may decrease compared to last year by 3-4 points. Sharing wide scores will be an opportunity for candidates to confidently register for the right major to improve their ability to pass the academy entrance exam.
In addition, to accompany candidates, the 2025 Admissions Council of the Academy of Finance plans to reduce the entrance threshold by about 1 point" - Mr. Tung said.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade also predicts that the benchmark scores in 2025 will decrease for the subjects with Math and English.
Similarly, the full-time university admission council of Thang Long University said that it will consider lowering the benchmark score to create conditions for candidates to study at the desired school.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Anh Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Higher Education, said that from July 16, candidates will have enough information to adjust their admission wishes. Universities will fully fulfill their responsibility to disclose information according to regulations. The Ministry of Education and Training will work with schools to ensure a fair and transparent admission process, including the use of foreign language certificates or conversion of admission scores.
