According to the plan of the Ministry of Education and Training, candidates can register and adjust their university admission wishes until 5:00 p.m. on July 28.
Dr. Mai Duc Toan - Director of the Admissions - Communications Center of Gia Dinh University noted that candidates should place their wishes in about 3 schools, each school registers 2-3 wishes, but the majors should belong to the same field.
"Many people choose to first wish for Information Technology, then wish for Accounting or Pedagogy, which shows inconsistency and easily leads to inappropriate majors," Dr. Mai Duc Toan noted.
He also emphasized: "Choosing the right industry according to your preferences is not enough. It is necessary to consider both the school's strengths and the ability to study long-term. Prioritize choosing a major that you are truly capable and interested in."
In addition to passion and strengths, financial factors and career opportunities also need to be taken into account. Candidates need to ask themselves: Is my family eligible to study this major? and is it easy to find a job after graduation?
"If choosing an industry that is difficult to find a job or not suitable for the current development trend, the risk of unemployment after graduation is huge," Dr. Mai Duc Toan warned.
Sharing the same view, MSc. Cu Xuan Tien - Head of the Department of Admissions and Student Affairs, University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University), advised candidates to study carefully in choosing a major related to a career in the future, avoiding choosing just because of " suitable admission scores" or because it is a "hot industry" pursued by many people.
"The major I really love will motivate me to develop my abilities throughout my studies and work in the future. If they do not have enough points to enter a top school, candidates should consider studying that major in mid-level or lower-level schools," Mr. Tien advised.
Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan - Head of Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, said that this year's benchmark scores fluctuated unpredictably, so setting wishes also required a clear strategy.
"C candidates should register about 10 wishes. Selling too little will reduce the chance of being admitted, and selling too much can easily lead to unreasonable arrangement, which can lead to being admitted to an unwanted industry, he noted.
According to Mr. Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communications Center, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, a popular strategy is to divide wishes into 3 groups.
"The first group is "dream aspirations", that is, choosing schools and majors with a slightly higher benchmark score than the exam score last year to test. The second group is those with moderate benchmark scores - high admission chances. The final group is "safe wishes", choosing majors and schools with lower admission scores to ensure tuition allowances", MSc. Pham Thai Son shared.
