On July 27, the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City solemnly held a death anniversary for heroic martyrs and patriotic people who sacrificed in Con Dao.
The ceremony took place in a solemn and sacred atmosphere, where the land of Con Dao - known as the "red address" of the history of the Vietnamese revolution.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Van Nen - Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Ms. Truong My Hoa, former Vice President; leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, former leaders of the former Ba Ria - Vung Tau province; representatives of departments, branches, organizations, armed forces of Ho Chi Minh City and relatives of martyrs and former political prisoners who were detained in Con Dao.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - expressed his gratitude to the heroic martyrs and outstanding people of the nation with the will to be steadfast, indomitable, and not submit.
"The blood and bones of many generations of soldiers and people in Con Dao are the heroic history of the nation. With the love of the homeland, the steadfast and brave spirit of the revolutionary soldiers and patriots, the island of hell has become the heroic song of national defense, said Mr. Duoc.

Con Dao Special Zone used to be a "celebrity paradise" under the brutal domination of colonialism and the empire, and witnessed more than 20,000 outstanding children of the nation fall. Places such as Cau Tau 914, So Tieu, Ma Thien Lanh Bridge, Co Ong, Hon Cau, Bay Canh... are still left with painful traces, as a reminder of the great sacrifices of the previous generation, so that the country can have independence and freedom today.
The delegates respectfully and solemnly paid tribute to the heroic martyrs and patriots who heroically sacrificed their lives in the struggles for independence, freedom, peace, and national reunification in pride and infinite gratitude.
After the death anniversary, delegates, former prisoners, relatives of martyrs and all the people together offered incense, offered flowers, and burned incense to commemorate the merits of previous generations.
