Currently, universities have announced the threshold for ensuring input quality (landmark) to receive admission in 2025.
In Ho Chi Minh City, in general, the floor score this year is quite low compared to previous years, in which many schools have set the floor score from 15 points.
This is causing confusion among some candidates and parents, affecting their wish placement if they do not clearly understand information about the floor score.
Mr. Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade emphasized that the floor score is only the minimum score that candidates need to achieve to be considered for admission to an industry or university.
According to Mr. Son, the benchmark score can be 1-2 points or even more higher than the floor score, depending on the number of registered candidates and the quota for each major.
"Some schools in the top mid-level or top can announce quite low floor scores to expand the admission bar, but the standard score is likely to remain as high as in previous years," said Mr. Son.
Mr. Son suggested that students should not be subjective with the industry or school with a low floor score, because there may be cases where a low floor rate attracts a large number of candidates, causing the preparation score to be surprisingly high.
He advises students to follow the enrollment data of previous years. He believes that comparing the floor score and the benchmark scores of previous years will help candidates assess more accurately their admission ability.
"Registering wishes is an important step, deciding the direction to university and the future of each student. Therefore, students need to consider carefully, should not register for no reason just because they see a low floor score or hear that it will be easy to fail.
The most suitable industry is not the industry with the lowest floor score, but the industry you are capable of, love and have the opportunity to develop in the future," Mr. Son emphasized.
According to the plan of the Ministry of Education and Training, candidates must register their wishes for admission to the system (unlimited number of wishes) before 5:00 p.m. on July 28.
From July 29 to 5:00 p.m. on August 5, candidates pay the admission fee online on the system.
Training institutions announced that candidates will be admitted in the first round from 5:00 p.m. on August 22. Candidates confirm to enroll in the first round of online education on the system from 5:00 p.m. on August 30. Training institutions (still have quotas) announce additional admission from September 1.
