The profession chooses the person
Lecturer Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang (born in 2000, from Hai Phong) is currently working at the Faculty of Economics, Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment.
During high school, Trang chose to study Law at the National Academy of Public Administration following her family's direction.
When she went to university, although many lecturers commented that she was quite suitable for the teaching profession, she still didn't really pay attention.
Coming to Hanoi from the countryside, Huyen Trang's biggest obstacle was her foreign language ability. The first-year student spent a lot of time improving her foreign language ability and then organized teaching sessions for students who were weaker than her, thinking that only when she could teach others would she truly improve. This was also the time when Huyen Trang seriously thought about her future career.
"The more I teach, the more I find that I truly love this job" - Huyen Trang shared.
Before deciding to change direction, she tried all positions in the law industry such as office staff, legal, assistant to court clerk,... and realized that she was more passionate about teaching.
After that, the second-year student outlined a plan and roadmap to make her dream come true.
Despite her love and passion, she was quite worried because she had not attended any teacher training school, so she spent 2 years after college to accumulate enough pedagogical certificates. At the same time, to improve her practical skills, she applied and became an assistant lecturer at a university and then transferred to work at the Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment until now.
Not only that, she also pursued graduate studies, choosing the field of Digital Economy and E-commerce to research because this is a very potential field with few people working in it.
After 2 years of hard work, Ms. Huyen Trang graduated with a Master's degree in Economic Management, becoming the valedictorian of the University of Commerce for the 2022-2024 course; receiving a comprehensive certificate of merit from the school.
Mission to inspire passion for scientific research
Since she was a student and now, as a lecturer, young teacher Huyen Trang has always actively participated in scientific research, participated in forums and seminars, had articles published in domestic scientific journals, had reports at domestic and international conferences and seminars,...
Her research topics do not focus on presenting situations or data but on finding solutions, aiming to provide highly applicable models for businesses or the state.
She believes that her journey to becoming a teacher, in addition to her efforts, also owes a great deal to her university teachers - who inspired, motivated, and gave her the opportunity to try her hand.
"Someone once told me that in this life there are only two people who can be called teachers: doctors and teachers. If you choose to pursue a teaching career, you need to be really serious and practice a lot.
I believe that my mission is to conquer knowledge, conduct scientific research and pass it on to students, to arouse and inspire the student generation.
The greatest happiness of a teacher is the success of students after graduating from university. Many students come back to tell me about their journey, some pursue teaching, participate in scientific research, etc. I feel that I have inspired success for students. That is also one of the motivations and happiness in this profession" - Ms. Trang said.
Currently, young lecturer Huyen Trang continues her academic journey and aims to become a Doctor before the age of 28.However, she believes that a degree is not the goal but the result of a journey of trying to access knowledge.
"In today's era, without knowledge, nothing can be done. For a lecturer, it is even more important to become an excellent intellectual" - Ms. Trang shared.
