Vietnam Education Publishing House (NXBGDVN) on August 26 said that as of August 25, NXBGDVN has printed and distributed 225 million copies of textbooks and more than 76 million copies of exercise books and reference books, completing and exceeding the initial registration plan of localities.
From now until the opening ceremony, NXBGDVN will additionally release 10 million copies of textbooks to the market according to practical needs from schools and localities, and additionally print 8 million copies of textbooks to ensure textbook security and safety, overcome natural disasters, storms and floods, and other practical situations arising.
In Ho Chi Minh City alone, as of August 24, 2026, NXBGDVN has supplied 25.5 million copies of textbooks, reaching 102% compared to the initial plan (25.1 million copies). In addition to supplying schools according to orders, NXBGDVN also directly meets the demand for textbook purchases of a large number of parents at stores belonging to the NXBGDVN system.

NXBGDVN affirmed that, in terms of total output and global supply, there is no shortage of textbooks. However, in reality, there is still a situation of congestion and local "book fever" in some localities (especially in Ho Chi Minh City).
NXBGDVN explains that the phenomenon of parents gathering in line at retail stores in the days leading up to the opening ceremony does not stem from the overall supply shortage, but from the temporary breakdown and interruption in the traditional book registration channel at schools and policy obstacles.
To solve the situation of local congestion, publishing units of NXBGDVN have made efforts to flexibly deploy the issuance of textbooks to all agents and bookstores in Ho Chi Minh City, and at the same time proactively persuade schools to deploy book ordering. In addition, NXBGDVN is closely coordinating with Departments of Education and Training to deploy immediate goods supply regulation. NXBGDVN continuously transports books from transit warehouses to supplement bookstores, retail stores and agents to serve parents.
Along with that, reactivate the registration channel at the school: Request educational institutions to continue to receive parents' book purchase needs. Local School Book and Equipment Companies will transport books directly to schools, helping parents not have to go to retail stores to queue.
NXBGDVN also publicly announces the list of official selling points, and at the same time, recommends that parents proactively look up the list of official textbook suppliers belonging to the NXBGDVN system, and encourages the reuse of old textbooks to practice thrift: Encourage students to reuse old textbooks of the "Connecting Knowledge with Life" set to reduce the pressure to buy new books and practice thrift.
The unit also committed to extending the service time and online sales, providing completely free electronic textbooks, ensuring 100% full supply of textbooks for all students nationwide in the 2026–2027 school year.
