On the morning of March 19, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Ban Lau Primary and Secondary Boarding School, Lao Cai province.

Also attending were leaders of ministries and sectors, Secretary of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee Duong Quoc Huy, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh and a large number of people, students, and teachers of the school.

Mr. Dinh Van Dang, Director of the Lao Cai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that in recent years, with the attention of the Central Government and the province, localities in the province have had many positive changes in socio-economic development, especially in the field of education and training.

However, school facilities in many border communes are still difficult and do not fully meet the learning and boarding needs of students.

The construction of Primary and Secondary Boarding Schools for border communes has been invested in, creating favorable conditions for children of ethnic minorities to study and live in a spacious, safe and modern environment," said Mr. Dinh Van Dang.

In parallel with the project development process, the investor has coordinated with local authorities to organize measurement and drawing of land plot maps to carry out site clearance work immediately after the project is approved.

According to the approved project, the school scale is invested and built on a land fund of 5ha, ensuring teaching and learning conditions for about 980 students.

The school is designed modernly, but still bears a strong national cultural identity, and is fully invested in synchronous items such as classroom buildings, administration buildings, dining rooms, boarding houses, official residences for teachers, cultural houses, sports areas and other essential infrastructure.

Leaders of Lao Cai province assessed that the project is of great significance in improving the quality of education in the border area and developing local human resources.

In addition, the project also contributes to strengthening national defense and security, promoting socio-economic development in Ban Lau commune and surrounding areas.

It is known that this is the 5th Inter-level Boarding Primary and Secondary School to be started construction in Lao Cai province.

Previously, in November 2025, Lao Cai province organized the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 4 inter-level boarding schools for primary and secondary schools in the border communes of A Mu Sung, Y Ty, Muong Khuong and Pha Long.

The projects are being constructed in 9 months, and the progress is currently guaranteed, striving to complete before August 30, 2026.
