Ms. Tran Thi Truc Quynh (Thu Duc City) said that she has registered her child to take the competency assessment survey for grade 6 at Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School (Thu Duc City). At the same time, they also registered their children for the 6th grade entrance exam at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School (District 1).
Currently, Ms. Quynh's child has completed the entrance exam to Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School on May 24. The competency assessment survey for Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School will take place on June 16.
According to Ms. Quynh, since the beginning of the 5th grade, she has allowed her children to participate in extra classes outside.
"The level of competition in these schools is always high, especially Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School, if they do not have extra classes, it will be very difficult for them to be admitted. Before teaching him, I asked him if he liked to study, he replied that he liked, I sent him to school, without forcing or putting pressure. No matter how the exam results are, our family will be happy," said Ms. Quynh.
Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hang (Thu Duc City) registered her child for the same competency assessment survey to enter Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School.
"Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School is a good school, famous for many years, so I want to let my child take the exam. However, I did not send my child to extra classes, he only studied at home. If my child is admitted, I will study, otherwise I will study at a secondary school near my home," said Ms. Hang.
In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City will have 6 secondary schools enrolling grade 6 students using a competency assessment survey exam including: Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School (District 1); Nguyen Huu Tho Secondary School (District 7), Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School (Hoc Mon District) and 3 secondary schools in Thu Duc City including: Tran Quoc Toan 1, Hoa Lu, Binh Tho.
Of which, 3 schools in Thu Duc City held the exam on May 24.
To register for the 6th grade entrance exam of the above schools, students are required to have a periodic test score at the end of the school year for Vietnamese and Mathematical subjects of 9 points or more in the 5th grade.
The survey will be 90 minutes long. The exam consists of 2 parts: Test and essay. In which, the essay test will have parts such as English proficiency survey (listening, reading comprehension, writing); Survey of Mathematical proficiency and logical thinking; Survey of reading comprehension and writing proficiency.
