On April 11, the Department of Education and Training (DET) of Da Nang City officially spoke out about the incident of a boarding table at Nui Thanh Primary School (Hai Chau District, Da Nang City) that caused a stir in public opinion on social networks. Images from an anonymous account on Facebook show that a rice tray with a small amount of food, including only a few slices of pork rolls, stir-fried cabbage and white rice, has many people worried about the nutritional diet of students.

Ms. Le Thi Bich Thuan - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang - said that the department has grasped the information and requested the Department of Education and Training of Hai Chau District to coordinate with the school to verify and clarify.
At the same time, the department also re-examined the entire meal preparation process at Nui Thanh Primary School on the day of the incident.
Ms. Thuan emphasized that the department always cares about the quality of students' meals and has requested all Departments of Education and Training in the city to strengthen inspection and supervision of the implementation of regulations on boarding at schools, ensure quality of meals and make the menu transparent for parents.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee - also requested the Department of Education and Training to direct schools with boarding facilities to ensure quality and publicize the menu.
Ms. Thi encourages parents to go to school to visit and supervise their children's meals without having to register in advance. This is to help parents feel more secure about their children's studies and nutrition at school.
Ms. Thi requested the Department of Education and Training to quickly issue a specific document guiding this issue.
On the school's side, Ms. Phan Thi Tuyet Lan - Principal of Nui Thanh Primary School - denied the information on social networks. Ms. Lan explained that the photo was taken when the kindergarten teacher was dividing food, not a complete meal. According to Ms. Lan, the menu on March 25, the day of the incident, included pork chops with soy sauce, sour soup with fish cakes, la gim stir-fried with lean meat, rice cake dessert and stewed congee with green beef congee. Each boarding meal costs 28,000 VND, including lunch and a bus trip.
