Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - chaired. Attending were delegates of the Central industry trade union and delegates from a number of provincial and municipal labor federations.
Presenting a draft report on the organization and operation of trade unions in economic groups, general corporation and company trade unions, Mr. Tong Van Bang - Member of the Presidium, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - said that as of May 31, 2025, the whole country has 124 grassroots trade unions established in economic groups, general corporations and companies with a total of 3,115 grassroots trade unions and 695,340 union members.
Of which, in 4 provincial and municipal labor federations (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Khanh Hoa), 16 trade unions at the level directly above the grassroots level of corporations and companies with 453 grassroots trade unions and 79,272 union members were established; in 11 central and equivalent trade unions, 105 trade unions at the level directly above the grassroots level of corporations and companies were established, with 2,662 grassroots trade unions and 616,068 union members.
According to the assessment of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, economic group trade unions, corporations and companies have played a good role in directing grassroots trade unions to operate closely following the functions and tasks of the trade union organization.
The Union regularly coordinates with the expertise to listen to the thoughts, resolve the legitimate requirements of the workers (workers), contributing to building a harmonious, stable and progressive labor relationship in enterprises; Doing well the role of participating in inspection and supervision of the implementation of labor laws and trade unions in enterprises. The organization of the Labor Conference (Labor), organizing dialogue at the workplace step by step improving in quantity and quality. Trade Union performed well the propaganda of education in workers; timely care for union members and employees of enterprises in difficult areas, remote areas, borders and islands.
Every year, proactively propose to organize meetings and exchanges between trade unions and business associations and business owners; actively negotiate, sign, supervise the implementation of collective labor agreements, propose more beneficial regulations for workers than those prescribed by law; trade unions closely coordinate with the professional organization to effectively implement emulation movements and separate campaigns of the trade union organization...
Mr. Tong Van Bang suggested that the trade union model in economic groups, corporations and companies operating in the nature of industries (business enterprises) not following administrative units, should be carefully and systematically studied and evaluated, and the opinions of trade union officials and union members in enterprises should be shared; it is necessary to study some models of trade unions in economic groups, corporations and companies in some countries in the region and in the world.
Regarding the tasks and powers of trade unions in economic groups, corporations and companies, it is recommended to continue researching to have a basis for proposing amendments and supplements to the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union, in the direction of focusing on core, fundamental tasks, tasks associated with the rights and interests of union members, employees and production and business activities of enterprises.
In addition, it is recommended to continue to arrange full-time union officials of the direct superior union as full-time union officials at the grassroots union, to ensure jobs and rights of officials, or resolve them at will.
At the workshop, delegates contributed opinions to propose a model of organizing and operating trade unions in economic groups, general companies, and companies.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - said that the Vietnam Trade Union is at a time of important transformation, with the requirement to reorganize the apparatus in a streamlined, effective, efficient manner, in line with the Party's policies. This has a profound impact on the organization and operation of trade unions at all levels, including trade unions of economic groups, general corporation trade unions, and companies.
The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor emphasized that it is necessary to comply with the direction of the Central Steering Committee on streamlining the apparatus in the spirit of Resolution 18.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang suggested that when designing a trade union model in an economic group, the corporation and company need to review the tasks and propose specific tasks for each industry and field. From the task design, we can design relationships, people, and financial resources.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang said that he will accept opinions at the workshop to design tasks for all levels, not overlapping but not leaving out, clearly defining the tasks of the Central level; provincial, municipal, and sectoral levels; grassroots levels.
The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor suggested that delegates continue to contribute opinions to design a trade union model in economic groups, general corporation trade unions, and creative, effective and efficient companies, bringing many practical benefits to union members, employees and enterprises.
