The Government has also just directed the merger of a number of medical colleges into medical schools.
Most recently, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long signed the Prime Minister's Decisions to merge Thai Nguyen Medical College into Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy and Hue Medical College into Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Education and Training and the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province and the People's Committee of Hue city to direct relevant agencies and units to hand over and receive the personnel, finance, assets, and students of the two colleges to the two universities according to regulations.
The process of merging and reorganizing must ensure normal operations, legitimate and legal rights and interests of the parties involved, and avoid negativity, loss and waste of finance and assets.
The Ministry of Health has also proposed a plan to reorganize the system of public service units in the health sector in the spirit of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the Central Committee.
In which, the Ministry proposed a plan: Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy will receive Hai Duong University of Medical Technology. Hai Duong Central College of Pharmacy will merge into Hanoi University of Pharmacy.

In Phu Tho, the province merged Hoa Binh Medical College into Phu Tho Medical College under the Provincial People's Committee, and at the same time, based on the planning approval policy to continue research and construction into the University of Medicine and Pharmacy for the period 2026 - 2030.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City also submitted a plan to arrange public service units in the field of education and health. In particular, the Department proposed to merge Ba Ria - Vung Tau Medical College into Binh Duong Medical College, the name after the merger is Ho Chi Minh City Medical College.
In Ca Mau, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province proposed to merge Ca Mau Medical College and Bac Lieu Medical College into Ca Mau Medical College (Group 3). After the merger, a roadmap will be developed to ensure regular expenditure (Group 2).
