Teaching according to the new program requires teachers to improve and innovate in testing and evaluating learners' abilities.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the 2018 General Education Program (GEP) will continue to be implemented in all grades. This is also the first year of implementing the High School Graduation Exam according to the new program.

Sharing with Lao Dong, Ms. Pham Vu Ngoc Quynh - Head of the Literature Group, Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted, Can Tho City - said that for Literature, in the past, students only perceived the work based on the teacher's feelings. According to the current 2018 General Education Program, teachers guide the path and students will choose their own path.

“Teaching Literature according to the new curriculum, students will be able to develop their creativity and their own ability to perceive. However, teachers will have difficulty in testing and evaluating. This requires teachers to improve and innovate to do a good job of assessing students' abilities,” Ms. Quynh commented.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Principal of Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted, Can Tho City - said that from the beginning of the school year, the school has based on the actual situation and characteristics of its unit to arrange teachers appropriately. At the same time, teachers are also trained and fully absorb the content and teaching methods according to the instructions of the education sector.

As for the two subjects of Information Technology and Technology, which will become high school graduation exams for the first time in 2025, the school will first organize teaching for students to ensure basic knowledge for graduation, and then orient them in university entrance exams. These are two consistent goals that the school always ensures to achieve.

According to Mr. Hung, this is the first year of implementing the new program in all grades, so there will certainly be difficulties and shortcomings during the implementation process. In the coming time, for problems that the school cannot resolve, it will make recommendations to higher levels for appropriate adjustments.

Mr. Tran Thanh Binh - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City - informed that right after the Ministry of Education and Training approved the plan to organize the high school graduation exam from 2025, the structure of the high school graduation exam applied from 2025, the Department has directed educational institutions, in addition to closely following the requirements of the program, to closely follow the sample exam structure of the Ministry of Education and Training to develop appropriate lesson plans, tests, and assessments.

In addition, the Department also directed educational institutions to organize regular tests according to the orientation of the reference exam structure of the Ministry of Education and Training so that students can become familiar with it; organize orientation for students to choose subjects expected to take the graduation exam to develop teaching plans suitable for the chosen subjects, level and capacity of students.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the city's education and training sector is determined to successfully implement the school year plan with the theme "Innovation, quality improvement, solidarity and discipline".

Compared to the previous school year, this school year the city has an increase of 5,140 students. Therefore, the industry has implemented many solutions, together with localities, to ensure access to education for students; focusing on building a team of teachers in implementing the 2018 General Education Program.
