Candidates have more choices to study Economics associated with English
In 2026, the Vietnam Women's Academy will for the first time enroll students for the High-Quality Training Program in Economics (program code 7310101E).
After the previous enrollment, the academy continues to receive applications from August 11 to the end of August 21, 2026, opening up more opportunities for candidates who want to study Economics in an environment that enhances the use of English.
In addition to the benchmark score threshold, the academy requires candidates to meet at least one of three English conditions: having an average score of English for three years of grades 10, 11 and 12 from 8.0 or higher; having a foreign language certificate equivalent to B1/Level 3/6 or higher still valid according to regulations; or achieving from 6.5 points in English in the 2026 high school graduation exam.
Some certificates that can be referenced at level B1 include VSTEP Level 3, IELTS from 4.0, TOEFL ITP from 450, TOEFL iBT from 45, Cambridge B1 Preliminary, Aptis ESOL B1 and Pearson English International Certificate Level 2, it is not necessary to own IELTS.
Notably, the program has 131 credits, not including Physical Education and National Defense - Security Education; over 30% of the credits are taught in English. Output standard towards foreign language proficiency Level 4/6, equivalent to B2.
Learning Economics is not just to become an "economist
Dr. Le Van Son - Deputy Head of the Faculty in charge of Economics and Finance, Vietnam Women's Academy - said that one of the characteristics of the Economics major is that the training knowledge has the ability to be applied in many occupational groups.
Students learn how to analyze consumer and business behavior, market assessment, understand macroeconomic fluctuations, analyze data, consider the effectiveness of investment decisions and assess the impact of policies.
Bachelor of Economics can appear in many different working environments, from manufacturing - business enterprises, banks, securities companies, FDI enterprises to state agencies, consulting organizations and research institutes. The official career prospects of the Economics major at the academy also define the scope of jobs spanning international economics, investment, finance and economic management" - Mr. Son assessed.
In the context of digital transformation and international integration, Mr. Son acknowledged that although they are both economics degrees, English proficiency can make a difference in the scope of businesses and positions that workers are able to access.
Mr. Son analyzed that an import-export specialist needs to exchange with foreign partners; investment analysis personnel may have to read international reports and data; experts at FDI enterprises often work in a bilingual environment; while researchers need to access a large amount of academic materials in English.
Therefore, to catch up with the trend and equip students with skills and knowledge for the future, the High-Quality Program for Economics of the Vietnam Women's Academy not only increases the number of foreign language lessons but also brings English directly into the professional learning process.
The goal is therefore not simply to help students "have English", but to gradually form the ability to work in English in the economic field they are trained in" - Mr. Son said.
