In the face of a rapidly increasing and complicated dengue epidemic, preschools have been simultaneously implementing preventive measures.
At September 2 Kindergarten (Can Tho City), the unit has cleaned and disinfected the classroom, daily items and toys, ensuring an airy environment for children. In addition to instructing children on personal hygiene with soap, the school also gives children 100% sleep to prevent mosquito bites.

Ms. Hoang Thi Hang - health officer of Kindergarten 2 September - said that in the context of erratic storm-force weather conditions, many diseases, especially dengue fever, are on the rise. Therefore, from teachers to health workers at the school are closely monitoring the health of children every day, to promptly care for and notify the board of directors and parents.
"From pick-up to drop-off, we have to monitor our health. If children show signs or signs of abnormality, they will be taken to the health room for care, monitoring, isolation and reported to the board of directors and family, said Ms. Hang.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Nhu - Principal of Kindergarten 2 September - informed that since the beginning of the year, the school has not recorded any cases of dengue fever. However, to prevent and ensure a safe learning environment, the unit has organized training for teachers and staff and disseminated to parents about how to recognize and care for children at home. Accordingly, teachers will regularly inform through the Zalo group to remind parents to follow and report as soon as the child shows unusual signs,...
Similarly, at Bong Sen Kindergarten, environmental sanitation and disinfection to prevent all kinds of diseases have been carried out since the beginning of the school year. Particularly for school and playground items, children's tables and chairs are regularly cleaned and disinfected daily and weekly. The teaching staff also instruct children to practice proper personal hygiene, especially washing their hands with soap before eating and after going to the toilet.

Ms. Le Thi Hong Tram - health officer of Bong Sen Kindergarten - shared that in addition to training sessions organized by the school and local health sectors, the unit's health workers also proactively follow news, study more documents on the epidemic to grasp knowledge about prevention, control and timely response.

Along with school hygiene measures, the school also cares about nutritional regimens such as vitamin supplements and increased resistance for children through meals. We also closely coordinate with teachers to grasp the health status of children as well as promptly communicate with parents through class groups. From there, it helps young parents understand more about how to care for and recognize signs of the disease to prevent it with the school, said Ms. Tram.
