On May 20, Ms. Le Thi Bich Lien - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong province signed a decision to establish a working group to verify the case related to an 8th grade male student at Nguyen Du Secondary School.
The verification team was headed by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu, along with two members, Mr. Pham Dang Lam and Mr. Tran Duc Han.
According to the decision, the working group is responsible for performing tasks as required by the People's Committee of Lam Dong province from May 20 to May 21.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, on May 17, Ms. Tran Thi Kim Van (residing in Di Linh commune) sent a petition for help regarding her son, D. M. H, an 8th grade student at Nguyen Du Secondary School, being hospitalized in critical condition due to hanging himself.
According to reflections from the family, the male student was repeatedly beaten, threatened and mentally pressured during his studies.
The family believes that she was forced to give money to some other students. Because of fear, she silently endured it, even secretly collecting scrap metal to sell for money before the heartbreaking incident occurred.
Immediately after the information appeared, Lam Dong Provincial Police said that they had worked with the family, school and related people to comprehensively verify the case; and at the same time consider the responsibilities of the parties in the management and monitoring of students.
On May 18, the Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong province continued to send a document to the People's Committee of Di Linh commune requesting verification and strict handling of violations if they are related to the suspected school violence case.
After 5 days of treatment, the 8th grade male student is still in critical condition and needs a ventilator.
