Ho Chi Minh City accelerates completion of dossiers and procedures to submit to Ho Chi Minh City People's Council for consideration of investment policy for the sea-crossing road project connecting Can Gio - Vung Tau in June.

The Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just announced the conclusion of Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Cong Vinh at the meeting on the progress of the sea-crossing road project connecting Can Gio - Vung Tau.

According to the conclusion, this is a project of particular importance, requiring high technology, and a very large investment scale, so departments, branches and related units must focus maximum resources and actively coordinate closely to accelerate the implementation progress.

Ho Chi Minh City leaders requested to urgently complete all dossiers and procedures in order to submit them to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council for consideration in the first week of June.

In the context that the preparation time is still very short but there are still many important contents to be processed such as planning, land fund for payment, financial plan, specialized appraisal opinions and legal documents, Ho Chi Minh City leaders requested units to implement in the spirit of "both doing and researching, and completing dossiers".

Relevant agencies are also required to proactively send the completed contents to the Appraisal Council and specialized units for research, comments, and shorten processing time.

Ho Chi Minh City assigned the Department of Planning and Architecture to urgently send written opinions to the Department of Finance regarding the adjustment and supplementation of the planning of the sea-crossing road connecting Can Gio - Vung Tau. At the same time, this department must guide relevant localities to complete procedures for adjusting and updating zoning planning projects affected by the project in the Can Gio and Ba Ria - Vung Tau areas.

The Department of Finance is assigned to proactively coordinate with departments and branches to remove existing contents, and at the same time develop a detailed project implementation plan, specifically identify each task, lead agency, coordinating unit, progress and completed products of each task.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also requested Can Gio Tourism Urban Joint Stock Company - representative of the investor consortium - to urgently receive and complete the comments of central ministries and sectors on the project investment policy proposal report.

According to the latest proposal, the entire Can Gio - Vung Tau sea-crossing route is about 14.06 km long.

The sea tunnel section is nearly 3.9 km long, including about 3 km of submerged tunnel. The sea bridge section is more than 8 km long, including more than 5 km in Can Gio and nearly 3 km in Vung Tau. The total length of the approach roads at both ends of the route is about 1.9 km.

According to the preliminary design, the project is invested with a scale of 6 motorized lanes. The sea-crossing tunnel section is 30.2 m wide with two tunnel pipes, each pipe 15.1 m wide. The sea-crossing bridge section is 26.25 m wide, and the access road is 34.5 m wide.

The project has its starting point on Can Thanh - Long Hoa Avenue (Can Gio Sea Urban Area, Can Gio commune); the ending point is at the intersection between Sao Mai - Ben Dinh planned road and 30/4 road (belonging to Tam Thang and Rach Dua wards).

The total investment of the project is about 93,016 billion VND, implemented under the BT (build - transfer) contract.

The project is expected to start construction before July 2nd, be completed and put into operation in the third quarter of 2029.
