On the morning of August 19, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) announced the results and score distribution of the 2nd high school graduation exam at the Tuyen Quang Specialized High School exam site.
The results showed that the exam score picture changed significantly compared to the first exam. The number of candidates achieving excellent scores from 8 or higher in many subjects decreased sharply, while the average score of some subjects was lower by 1 to nearly 4 points.

For Mathematics, 326 candidates re-examined and achieved an average of 6.24 points, neutral 6.5. Only 42 students achieved 8 points or higher, accounting for 12.9%, while 58 students below 5 points, equivalent to 17.8%.
This result is contrary to the first exam, when 299 out of 328 candidates scored 9 points or higher, 147 students achieved a score of 10. The average score of Math at that time was 9.58. Thus, after the retake, the average score of this subject decreased by 3.34 points and no more candidates achieved a score of 10.
The reduction is even greater if considering the average score of History. In the first exam, the group of candidates at this exam site averaged about 9.3 points in History. After the re-examination, the average score was 5.55, about 3.75 points lower than the first time. Among 112 candidates taking the exam, 31 students scored below 5 points, accounting for 27.7%, and only one student scored 8 or higher.
The trend of reducing excellent scores is also clearly shown in natural science subjects.
In the first exam, Chemistry had 111 out of 113 candidates achieving 8 points or higher, equivalent to 98.2%, including 4 scores of 10. The average score was 8.95.
Physics has 112/140 candidates achieving from 8 points, accounting for 80%, an average of 8.32; Biology has 27/38 students achieving this level, equivalent to 71.1%, an average of 8.76.
After the re-exam, the number of candidates from 8 Chemistry scores decreased from 111 to 45, the rate is 39.8%, and the average score decreased to 7.53.
Physics decreased from 112 to 31 candidates achieving 8 points, equivalent to 22.1%, the average score is 6.64.
The scores for Biology also recorded a larger change. Among the same 38 candidates, the number of students achieving 8 points or higher decreased from 27 in the first time to only one student, equivalent to 2.6%, after the retake. The average score decreased from 8.76 to 5.87, which is 2.89 points lower.
English also had a significant shift in the high score group. The initial data of 198 English exam papers showed that 111 candidates scored 8 points or higher, equivalent to 56.06%, with an average score of 7.62.
In the re-examination, 197 candidates taking the English exam achieved an average of 5.46 points. Only 13 students achieved 8 points or higher, accounting for 6.6%; conversely, 65 students below 5 points, equivalent to 33%. Thus, the rate of achieving 8 points or higher decreased from about 56% to 6.6%.
Literature is the subject with more stable results in the second exam. Among the 324 candidates, the average score reached 7.18; only 6 students scored below 5 points, accounting for 1.9%, while 76 students scored from 8 or higher, equivalent to 23.5%.
Geography had 36 candidates taking the exam, averaging 6.77 points; 9 students scored from 8 or higher and 4 students below 5 points.
The exam was re-organized on August 14-15 after the first exam results at the Tuyen Quang Specialized High School exam site were cancelled. 326 candidates registered to retake the Math exam and 324 students took the Literature exam. The Ministry of Education and Training assessed that the 2nd exam took place safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations.
