Huynh Quang Hung - a 12th grade student in District 1 - said that he felt less worried after hearing that the high school graduation exam schedule was kept the same as before.
Quang Hung plans to use the results of the competency assessment test and the results of the high school graduation exam to apply to Ton Duc Thang University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics.
"According to the schedule, at the end of March, I will take the first phase of the competency assessment exam, and in early June, I will continue taking the second phase. If the exam schedule is adjusted, I will have to take the high school graduation exam a few days later. Thus, the exam review time will be shortened, and my review plan will have to change," Quang Hung shared.
That is also the mood of Minh Khue - another 12th grade student in District 1. "This year is the first year that students study and take exams according to the new education program, the exam questions are expected to have many changes, so we need about 1 month before the exam to be able to review and consolidate knowledge before the exam," said Minh Khue.
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and some other provinces and cities sent a document to the Ministry of Education and Training requesting to adjust the exam schedule for the 2025 high school graduation exam.
This proposal has caused many mixed opinions, many people think it is reasonable, because during this period, the whole country is implementing the arrangement and merger of provinces and cities. However, many people also believe that sudden changes in exam schedules can affect students' psychology.
A principal in Ho Chi Minh City said that changing the exam schedule will affect a part of students, especially in areas that are still difficult, without conditions and time for review and extra study.
"In fact, many students often wait until the end of the school year to review at school. This period of time is very important, helping students to consolidate and improve their knowledge. However, if the exam is held in early June now, while the school year ends at the end of May, students will not have time to review," said the principal.
2025 is the first year that high school students will take the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 General Education Program. According to the announced plan, the high school graduation exam will be held on June 26 and 27, 2025.
Candidates will take 4 subjects including: Math, Literature and 2 elective subjects from the remaining subjects (Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology).
