Surprised when receiving the valedictorian news
On July 1, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri province said that candidate Nguyen Tuan Huy, a 12th grade student specializing in Math 1, Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted (Quang Tri province), has just become the valedictorian of the whole province with a total score of 37, including Math 10.00; Literature 8.00; Chemistry 9.75; Biology 9.25.
With the above score, Huy also achieved the valedictorian of block B00 in the province in the 2026 high school graduation exam. This achievement is the result of efforts, discipline and persistent passion for learning throughout his high school years.
Sharing with PV of Lao Dong Newspaper, when receiving the results, Huy felt very surprised at first, especially with Literature achieving 8.0 points, although he did not study much in this subject. The joy was shared immediately with his family, who always accompanied and encouraged Huy during the review process.
“Really sitting for a while to feel everything. Math, Chemistry, Biology, Literature achieved a total of 37 points, the valedictorian of the whole province with a total score of subjects feels very strange” - Huy said.
Huy's learning journey does not completely rely on forced methods or overloaded schedules. He maintains a free learning rhythm, both interested and serious.
To study well, Huy always pays attention to health, interspersing subjects with physical activities such as badminton or crossbars, helping his spirit to be refreshed and more focused. Biology is taught extra, while Math and Chemistry are mainly self-taught, doing many questions, taking accurate notes, reading and then doing it over and over again to grasp the knowledge.
Huy once won the second prize in the province in Mathematics in the 2025-2026 school year. His secret is to read the questions carefully, do each step carefully, and spend the final time to re-examine. Huy spends about 3-4 hours/day on each subject, divided equally throughout the week, creating a regular and effective learning rhythm.
Although starting quite late from the end of the first semester of 12th grade due to being busy preparing for the national excellent student exam, Huy was not sure if he would get a high score or not. "At that time, I was still worried because my friends' mock exams had better results, I had to try many times harder. But the support of my family and teachers helped me feel reassured" - Huy shared.
I find the doctor profession very cool
Huy's next plan is to study General Medicine at Hanoi Medical University. The reason for choosing the major stems from personal experience, Huy was admitted to the hospital for treatment once in February 2026 and felt that the hospital environment was suitable for him.
I believe that becoming a doctor is not only a profession but also a mission, an opportunity to help people. And especially, Huy commented: "I find the doctor profession very cool".
In a message to students, Huy advised: "Make every effort, consciously study, learn more from teachers, equip yourself with full knowledge before the exam. Try every day, each subject, and don't forget to take care of your health. Every difficulty can be overcome if you persevere and have methods".
Nguyen Tuan Huy's achievements are proof of the steadfastness, intelligence and unremitting efforts of Quang Tri youth. Not only is it a score result, it is also a journey to train bravery, self-study skills, time management ability and the spirit of overcoming difficulties to reach dreams.
