Accordingly, next school year, Ho Chi Minh City will have a total of 2,528,789 students (an increase of 39,632 students compared to the previous school year).
Of which, preschool has 478,458 students; primary school has 939,002 students; secondary school has 759,278 students; high school has 352,051 students.
It is expected that in the 2025-2026 school year, the whole city will put into use 1,287 new classrooms from the budget.
Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council has passed a resolution regulating fees and collection levels, revenue and expenditure management mechanisms for services serving and supporting educational activities of public educational institutions in Ho Chi Minh City for the 2025-2026 school year.
In which, it is stipulated that in the 2025-2026 school year, public preschools, general schools, continuing education institutions, vocational education - continuing education in Ho Chi Minh City will have 9 fees as follows:

In which: Group 1: Children, students, trainees studying at educational institutions in the ward.
Group 2: Children, students, and trainees studying at educational institutions in communes and special zones.
The fees specified in this resolution are the maximum fees. Depending on the actual situation of the educational institution and the needs of students, the educational institution will agree with parents on the specific fee but not exceed the fee prescribed in the resolution and must not be 15% higher than the previous school year.
Public educational institutions shall base on the actual situation, facilities and needs of students to develop a revenue and expenditure estimate for each revenue and expenditure content, as a basis for calculating specific revenue levels to ensure the principle of sufficient revenue and expenditure, in accordance with the actual situation of the school year and submit it to competent authorities for approval. The use of fees must be for the correct collection purpose, the collection and expenditure plan of each fee must be made public to parents before organizing the implementation and fully implementing financial management regimes according to regulations.
The collection period must ensure the principle of the number of actual school months but must not exceed the time frame prescribed by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the school year schedule for preschool education, general education and continuing education in Ho Chi Minh City.
