In Binh Hung Hoa ward, Tran Dai Nghia Primary School has just been put into use on Huong Lo 3 street. The school is built on a land area of more than 8,800m2, with 30 standard classrooms along with subject rooms, libraries, administrative areas and playgrounds.
Infrastructure is invested synchronously, classrooms have air conditioning, modern teaching equipment, including interactive boards. This is one of the school projects contributing to supplementing learning places for students in the area.
For parents, the greatest joy is that their children can study right in their living area.
Ms. Mai Thi Thanh Thuy (Binh Hung Hoa ward) said that her family was quite worried when her child had to study temporarily elsewhere. Now the new school has been completed, the facilities are spacious, and the classrooms are clean and beautiful, making her feel more secure.
Having more schools right in the area helps parents reduce hardship and students have better learning conditions," Ms. Thuy shared.
Similarly, Ms. Le Thi Thuy Dung (Binh Hung Hoa ward) whose child is preparing to enter 1st grade said that her family is happy that her child is studying at a new school near her house.
My child is studying in such a convenient environment, so the family is very reassured. I think my child is lucky to study at the new school," Ms. Dung said.
Ms. Lai Xuan Loc, a teacher at Tran Dai Nghia Elementary School, also highly appreciated the school's synchronous investment. According to her, more than 30 classrooms are equipped with interactive TVs, helping teachers increase visuality in teaching, especially for 1st grade students.
For young students, they need visual and vivid images and activities. Being able to directly operate and interact with lessons helps them absorb and remember knowledge better," Ms. Loc shared.
Not only building new schools, Ho Chi Minh City also utilizes existing works and headquarters to supplement educational facilities, meeting the increasing learning needs.
Thoai Ngoc Hau High School was renovated from the old Tan Phu District People's Committee headquarters. The new school offers more choices for students, especially those who need to study near home.
Ta Vinh Trang, a 10th grade student, said that she changed her aspirations from Le Trong Tan High School to Thoai Ngoc Hau High School as soon as she knew the school started enrollment.
According to Trang, going from home to school currently only takes about 5-10 minutes. "I am very happy because from now on I can study at a school near my house," Trang shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuy Phuong - Principal of Thoai Ngoc Hau High School, said that after receiving the site at the end of July, the school coordinated with the construction unit to urgently renovate classrooms, functional rooms and necessary items.
Construction units are working continuously to complete 20 classrooms and subject rooms before August 31, ensuring facilities to welcome students in the new school year.
According to Ms. Phuong, the biggest difficulty is converting the function from administrative headquarters to schools, because many spaces must be renovated to meet the requirements of an educational institution. However, the implementation process is basically favorable.
Having more new schools not only solves the need for places to study but also expands choices for students. For many families, a school near home means reducing travel time, making it convenient to pick up and drop off, and helping students have more time to rest and study.
In the 2026-2027 school year, Ho Chi Minh City added 96,558 students, bringing the total number to more than 2.62 million children. Among them, preschool increased the most with 46,982 children; primary school increased by 11,863, secondary school increased by 14,941 and high school increased by 22,472 children.
Before the opening day of September 5th, the city plans to put into use more than 1,000 new classrooms to meet the increasing demand for schools.
