Speaking at the 20th anniversary ceremony (2006–2026), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Hoang - Rector of Ba Ria - Vung Tau University (BVU) said that the school has identified a new development direction as an applied university.

Accordingly, BVU continues to innovate the training program, promote scientific research and strengthen links with businesses to improve training quality, towards fields with high applicability.

Currently, BVU trains 23 undergraduate majors, including 5 master's degree majors and 1 doctoral degree major.
To date, more than 22,000 graduates and engineers of the school have participated in the labor market, mainly in the fields of logistics, marine economy, tourism - hospitality and health science.

In 2025, BVU was granted a Certificate of Educational Institution Quality Accreditation by the Saigon Education Quality Accreditation Center.
Achieving accreditation according to the new set of standards shows improvements in the training quality of a private higher education institution, in line with the development policy of the Government and the Ministry of Education and Training.
Previously, BVU was awarded the Third-class Labor Medal by the President and received a Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training in 2016. The school was also recognized by QS Stars (UK) as meeting international 4-star standards.
The anniversary ceremony was attended by representatives of management agencies, business partners and alumni. On this occasion, representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee presented the Traditional Flag to the BVU teaching collective, recognizing the two-decade journey of construction and development.
According to Dr. Dang Van Huan - Deputy Director of the Higher Education Department (Ministry of Education and Training), BVU's application-oriented training model is suitable for the needs of the labor market, especially industries associated with practice.
He also proposed orientation to 2030, the school needs to take learners as the center, promote digital transformation and prioritize the development of STEM, logistics and marine economy industry groups.
Within the framework of the event, BVU signed cooperation agreements with many domestic and foreign businesses, and received 345 million VND in scholarships, sponsorships and a laboratory to serve training in the health sector.
According to the development orientation to 2030, Ho Chi Minh City aims to become a financial and innovation center of the region, leading to a large demand for high-quality human resources in the fields of logistics, technology, tourism and services.
In that context, with the advantage of being located in a key marine economic region, BVU is positioned as a training institution for applied human resources, associated with the practical needs of businesses and regional development trends.
