On October 1, speaking with Lao Dong, a representative of the International University - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, said that the school had issued a new notice regarding the regulation on the tuition fee payment period for semester I of the 2025-2026 school year.
According to the new announcement, students will have an additional 10 days of tuition payment, which means completing tuition before October 15 (instead of October 5 as previously announced).
For students in difficult circumstances, they can submit an application for an extension before October 5 (instead of September 29 as previously announced).
In addition, the school does not require a 50% tuition fee payment in advance to be considered for an extension as in the initial announcement.
"In the old notices that had this content, the school's school's board of directors decided to remove it, but due to negligence in the drafting process, the unit in charge had not yet removed it, leading to students mistakenly understanding that they had to pay 50% before September 29 and the rest on October 5. As soon as it was discovered, the unit recognized an administrative error and adjusted it in the new notification," the school representative informed.
Previously, in the announcement of tuition fees for the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year for the 2024 enrollment course or earlier, the school required students to pay tuition fees before October 5. Students are required to pay the above deadline to be on the list of classes for the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year.
"In case students are really facing financial difficulties and have not yet fulfilled their tuition payment obligations within the prescribed time limit, the Financial Planning Department will resolve the extension on the condition that students have paid at least 50% of tuition fees before September 29. After the above time, all reasons are not resolved," the announcement stated.
This notice was later issued, causing many students to be upset, thinking that the regulations were too strict, the urgent submission time caused financial pressure on the family.
A student said: "In previous years, the school often required tuition fees to be completed before the mid-term exam. If it is difficult, just pay 50% in advance and complete the remaining after the exam. This year, the urgent regulations have caused difficulties for many students".
