On October 21, speaking with Lao Dong, a representative of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine said that they had sent an invitation to parents and students studying the Vietnam - Germany medical training program for the 2023 and 2024 courses to participate in the dialogue to provide clear, transparent information and agree on study plans, training roadmaps and financial plans.
According to the school, the reason for organizing a meeting with parents and students is that Johannes Gutenberg Mainz University announced the termination of cooperation in implementing the Vietnam - Germany medical training program.
The decision of Johannes Gutenberg Mainz University stems from the change in regulations on organizing the national medical examination (IMPP) and international cooperation policies of German public universities.
The dialogue will take place on the afternoon of October 22. According to Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, the dialogue will provide information on the situation and reasons for terminating training cooperation; study plans for students of the courses they are studying; financial plans and handling of tuition fees paid as well as training plans, recognition of learning outcomes and support for students in the transition period.
"The termination of cooperation in implementing the Vietnam - Germany medical training program is in the meeting stage to wait for the final results and there is no official conclusion. However, it is necessary to send a letter inviting parents and students to dialogue with the Vietnam - Germany Medical Program," he added.
The Vietnam - Germany Medical Training Program at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine has been implemented since 2013.
The training program lasts 6 years and 3 months, including 10 semesters and 3 credit periods. Students studying for the first 5 years in Vietnam with lecturers from Vietnam and Germany, 1 year and 3 months of clinical practice at teaching hospitals of Johannes Gutenberg Mainz and Hannover Medical University (Germany).
In the 2025-2026 school year, announced tuition fees and training fees for the 2025-2026 university system, the tuition fee for this program is about 115 million VND/semester, equivalent to 230 million VND/year (2 semesters).
