At Nguyen Van Luong Secondary School, Mr. Dinh Phu Cuong - Principal said that so far the school has basically completed the preparations for the new school year according to the plan.
The repair of facilities has been completed since the end of July. The school has also completed the assignment of professional staff and is preparing to organize health check-ups at the beginning of the year for students according to the City's program.
Similarly, at Phan Van Tri Elementary School, the preparation for the new school year is also basically completed.
Mr. Le Hong Thai - Principal of the school - said that the school has repaired facilities, toilets, painted classrooms, repaired tables and chairs and cared for green trees. Health check-ups for students are also being implemented by the school as required.
In terms of expertise, the school has organized pedagogical capacity training for teachers and nannies and completed related preparation tasks.
However, in the new school year, the school still lacks some teachers in special subjects such as Music and Fine Arts.
According to Mr. Thai, the shortage of teachers for these subjects has been going on for many years, but the number is not large, usually about 1-2 teachers per school. In the immediate future, the school will have a teacher contract plan suitable to the conditions and assigned funding.
While many schools have basically completed preparations, Le Thi Rieng Primary, Secondary and High School is urgently completing facilities to be ready to welcome students in the first school year.
This is an inter-level public school with all 3 levels of education newly established on the basis of conversion from the old District 12 People's Committee headquarters.
According to Mr. Luong Van Minh - Principal of the school, the items of repairing facilities are currently about 70% progress. Some areas on the floors of the school are still being repaired and are expected to be completed on August 31.
To ensure progress, the construction unit is working all day, and some departments have to work overtime at night.
In parallel with the repair, the school prepares tables and chairs and necessary equipment, ensuring conditions to serve teaching and learning when students come to school.
Up to this point, the staff and students are basically stable, and the rest is waiting for the physical facilities to be completed to enter the new school year," Mr. Minh said.
Mr. Minh said that many parents are happy when the area has a new school because the school is near their house, convenient for picking up and dropping off their children. Organizing 2 sessions/day and semi-boarding also helps parents feel secure at work while their children are studying and living at school.
The school plans to deploy semi-boarding after the opening ceremony. Because the current facilities do not ensure conditions for organizing cooking at the school, the school will select a contractor to supply industrial meals.
According to the 2026-2027 school year plan of Ho Chi Minh City, grade 1, grade 6 and grade 10 students will return to school from August 17; the remaining grades will return to school from August 24. The opening ceremony of the 2026-2027 school year will be held on September 5.
