To date, all 17/17 boarding primary and secondary schools in Tuyen Quang have been deployed for construction, marking a new turning point for education in the highlands.
On the groundbreaking day of Thang Mo Inter-level Boarding Primary and Secondary School (Thang Mo commune), the joy and excitement were evident on the faces of the people of this border commune.
Mr. Sung A Toan has two children in elementary school, currently the children have to travel nearly 5km to school every day, not to mention the hardship is multiplied many times over on rainy and flood days.
There is a boarding school, children study and live at school, on weekends the family picks them up, we are assured to work, not worried that our children will be in danger during the rainy and flood season. People hope the school will be completed soon" - Mr. Toan shared.
As for students in remote border areas, a spacious new school with many convenient equipment is what they have been waiting for for a long time.
With 17 newly invested and expanded inter-level boarding schools, it will meet the learning and living needs of tens of thousands of students in border communes of Tuyen Quang province. The noteworthy point of the projects is that they are systematically planned, with sufficient functional sub-areas from learning and administrative areas to boarding areas, physical training and creative experiences.
The planning of inter-level boarding schools in Tuyen Quang also helps streamline the management system, focusing resources on both facilities and teaching staff. Instead of isolated school sites that are difficult to travel, facilities and disperse investment resources, now children of border and highland compatriots will be educated and raised in a safe and sustainable educational environment.
Mr. Vu Dinh Hung - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Tuyen Quang province - said that the survey and assessment of geology and terrain to select the optimal site for building schools has been carefully prepared.
The schools will be designed flexibly, harmonizing with local ethnic culture and adapting to the terrain and harsh climate conditions of the highlands.
Each school with an area of 3 - 6ha will be a complete educational ecosystem from modern learning areas, cozy dormitories to physical training areas, cultural houses and even production expansion areas, helping ethnic minority students have the most comprehensive development environment" - Mr. Vu Dinh Hung said.
According to the plan, 6 inter-level boarding primary and secondary schools in Tuyen Quang, which started construction in 2025, will be completed and handed over before August 30, 2026 to be ready for the opening of the new school year. With 11 schools started construction in early 2026, they will be completed in 2027.
