The first person on the pink Sen Land
November 3, 2025 became an event in the Land of the Red Sea when for the first time, Dong Thap University (DThU) had a teacher recognized by the State Council for the title of Professor to meet the requirements of professor (GS).
At that time, I was very happy. The emotions are hard to describe... - Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Vinh Phuc - Vice Principal of the Pedagogical School (a member of DThU) - shared when receiving information that he was one of 71 teachers who met the GS standards in 2025. I am a reserved person when talking about myself, but through my voice and eyes, I feel some of Mr. Phuc's emotions.
Because this is not only a "dignity" affirming personal strength, but contains many profound meanings in terms of academics, profession and society for research teachers specializing in Physics theory and Physics. Moreover, it is also the joy of resonating with personal emotions and wishes from friends, colleagues, students...
Dr. Truong Tan Dat - Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of DThU - shared: "We not only receive and share this information with a very happy mood but also proud, because this is the first teacher in the unit to qualify as a full-time Professor".
Thus, just browsing Dr. Huynh Vinh Phuc's brocade of scientific findings, people will certainly feel the inner strength of the 45-year-old teacher (born in 1980): guiding 3 students to successfully defend their doctoral thesis; chairing 3 scientific research topics at the ministerial level and publishing over 100 scientific articles in prestigious international journals and publishing 3 books by prestigious publishers.
And it is these achievements that have made Mr. Huynh Vinh Phuc the youngest teacher at DThU to achieve the title of Associate Professor (2016).
Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Vinh Phuc is also the first teacher at DThU to be listed as a researcher with a high scientific citation index according to the Scopus database. In 2021, Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Vinh Phuc was named in the list of 100,000 authors with a high scientific citation index on Scopus - a practical measure of modern research.
Overcoming difficulties and leading
I came to the physics industry because of family circumstances - Mr. Huynh Vinh Phuc sincerely shared about his opportunity to study Physics. After taking the university entrance exam, I passed 4 schools, of which Physics was the 4th choice. However, in the end, Huynh Vinh Phuc chose to study Physics Pedagogy so that his family would have less to worry about tuition and to have more opportunities to teach to earn extra income to cover his studies.
Starting with the final choice, but with the determination to learn to change his fate, with the spirit of Hue people, student Huynh Vinh Phuc has quietly created a spectacular "stream change" when converting the learning mindset from passive to proactive, from unpopular to appreciative.
That spirit was so strong that after graduating from university, Huynh Vinh Phuc accepted to study for a master's degree as a free student. To have money to cover tuition and expenses... Huynh Vinh Phuc has to attend a 7-day/week session... That's how hard it is, but after graduating, Huynh Vinh Phuc did not choose the urban area but volunteered to join DThU - a school in the mountainous areas of the South.
Many people find it confusing, but for Huynh Vinh Phuc, it is simply the choice of the heart that wants to commit to finding the land that is thirsty for knowledge to sow seeds... Here, DThU has received many support policies, creating conditions for writing scientific articles, doing graduate research... Huynh Vinh Phuc boldly focuses on research and becomes a PhD in Physics (2012).
But for Huynh Vinh Phuc, this is not to achieve status but to have more conditions to spread knowledge. Not only encouraging his wife (Hoang Thi Nghiep - lecturer of the Department of Biology - DTHU) to study for a doctorate and becoming one of the first couple of DTHU to receive a doctorate, Huynh Vinh Phuc also led many colleagues and research students...
