3 distance training units of Danang University, Hue University and Thai Nguyen University jointly organized the conference " application of artificial intelligence in management and distance training", attracting managers, experts and educational institutions interested in the digital trend in education.
In his opening speech, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Thanh Bac - Deputy Director of Da Nang University affirmed that applying AI is an urgent requirement to improve the quality of human resources and innovate current training.
The organizing committee received 11 presentations, 5 of which were presented in person, focusing on analyzing the role of AI in personalizing learning, analyzing real-time data, supporting lecturers in marking, answering questions and operating online learning systems. 24/7 supporting virtual assistants are assessed to help increase interaction and reduce professional workload for lecturers.
However, applying AI poses many challenges. Distance training units have difficulty in building technology infrastructure, data security, and ensuring learners' privacy. The teaching staff also needs to be equipped with skills to master technology, avoiding dependence on AI. The risk of fraud, plagiarism and declining critical thinking continue to be a matter of note.
At the conference, MSc. Tran Thanh Liem (Da Nang University) said that the number of online learners nationwide has increased sharply, nearly 1 million people per year. However, training institutions are under great pressure in screening candidates, personalized consultation and learning progress management. He presented AI solutions to support enrollment, data analysis, personalize routes, support lecturers and improve the quality of assessments.
From a cautious perspective, MSc. Le Duc Minh Phuong (Hue University) warns of the risk of leaking data and "AI-generated" information and a decline in thinking when abusing technology. According to him, AI only promotes value when used in a controlled manner, with the supervision role of experts.
The Institute of Open Training and Information Technology - Hue University said it is implementing AI in enrollment, teaching and learning assessment. Automating testing and evaluation helps increase fairness, transparency and reduce pressure on lecturers.
At the end of the conference, the leaders of the three units agreed to continue coordinating research, investment in digital infrastructure, building training programs to adapt to the AI context, while enhancing digital skills training for lecturers and learners.
According to the units, to make AI a lever for distance learning, it is necessary to have a synchronous development strategy, long-term investment and a determination to innovate, towards an open, flexible and effective education in the digital age.
