Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Huong Son district - said that this morning (September 25), the whole district of Huong Son had 5 schools with 1,324 students having to stay home from school due to flooding. These schools are: Kim Hoa Kindergarten, Son Tien Kindergarten, Kim Hoa Primary School, Son Tien Primary School and Son Tien Secondary School.
At Kim Hoa Kindergarten, teachers are cleaning and washing away mud to welcome students back to school soon.
Affected by the flood, on September 24, the whole district of Huong Son had 8 schools with 3,111 students absent from school. During this flood, the whole district had 2 schools flooded, many other schools were not flooded but the road to school was flooded so the school had to let students stay home.
Mr. Trinh Hong Manh - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Duc Tho district - said that this morning in Duc Tho district, there were still 6 schools with about 1,500 students absent. They are: Quang Vinh Kindergarten, Quang Vinh Primary School, Tung Chau Kindergarten, Tung Chau Primary School, Le Hong Phong Secondary School (in Truong Son commune), Nguyen Trai Primary School (in Bui La Nhan commune).
“Some schools are cleaning their schoolyards now, some schools are not flooded but the road to school is flooded, the water is receding slowly so students still cannot go to school,” Mr. Manh shared.
Previously, on September 24, the entire Ha Tinh province had 14 schools with 4,678 students absent due to flooding.
The flood that occurred from September 22 to 24 in Ha Tinh province has basically receded. Only in a few low-lying communes, the water has receded more slowly, so some schools have not yet reopened.
