Huynh Tan Phat Secondary School (Tan Thuan ward) has announced the suspension of semi-boarding meal organization at the school from January 29. According to the school, immediately after receiving information related to the meal provider, the school requested the partner to clarify and decided to temporarily suspend the contract to ensure health safety for students.
During the temporary suspension, the school coordinates with the Parents' Representative Board to agree on a plan to reorganize boarding school work appropriately, safely and in accordance with regulations. Parents are requested to proactively pick up students to eat and rest for lunch and bring them back to school on time for afternoon classes.
Trung Son Secondary School (Chanh Hung commune), Tan Quy Elementary School (Tan Hung ward), Nguyen Van Huong Elementary School (Phu Thuan ward) also announced similarly, temporarily suspending boarding meals until there is a conclusion from functional agencies.
At Khanh Binh Secondary School (Chanh Hung ward), the Board of Directors sent a notice to parents about temporarily suspending the use of meals provided by business households to the school from January 29.
During this time, the school seeks a replacement supplier. The condition for considering continuing the contract is that the supplier must have a written confirmation of no violation from the functional agency.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Van Tao Elementary School (Hiep Phuoc ward) said that it had proactively contacted the meal provider immediately after grasping the information.
According to the supplier, the case is being processed and verified by functional agencies.
While waiting for the official conclusion, the school proposed three temporary options from January 29, including: Parents prepare lunch for students to take with them; continue to use semi-boarding meals or pick up students home at noon. Parents choose a suitable option and notify the homeroom teacher.
Regarding the incident, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that it is coordinating with relevant agencies to inspect and clarify, in the spirit of ensuring absolute safety for students.
According to a representative of the Department, the principal is the first person responsible if food safety and hygiene insecurity occurs at the educational institution he manages. After having an official conclusion, the Department will base on the level of violation (if any) to handle according to regulations.
Previously, on January 28, a catering unit in Hiep Phuoc commune (formerly Nha Be district) was providing meals and food to many schools in Ho Chi Minh City, and was reported to have used expired meat in processing. This information has caused much concern in public opinion.
