On the occasion of the 118th anniversary of the birth of comrade Nguyen Duc Canh (February 2, 1908 - February 2, 2026), the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2026), a working delegation of Lao Dong Newspaper led by comrade Nguyen Ngoc Hien - Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Secretary of the Party Committee, Editor-in-Chief of the delegation came to offer incense and flowers to commemorate leader Nguyen Duc Canh at the comrade's memorial area. Also attending the incense offering ceremony were comrades Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Lao Dong Newspaper, leaders of the Hung Yen Provincial Labor Federation.
Comrade Nguyen Duc Canh (1908 - 1932) was born into a poor Confucian family, with a rich tradition of patriotism and studiousness in Diem Dien village, General Guard, Thuy Anh district (now Thai Thuy commune, Hung Yen province). The comrade was formerly a founder of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former Secretary of the Bac Ky Regional Party Committee, former Chairman of the Red General Confederation of Bac Ky (the predecessor organization of today's Vietnam Trade Union), former first Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee and former first Editor-in-Chief of Lao Dong Newspaper - the mouthpiece of the Vietnam Trade Union organization.
Being enlightened about the revolution very early, sympathizing with the suffering of workers and realizing the great strength of the working class if united, comrade directly participated, mobilized, and organized into the revolutionary struggle movement of the working class. On July 28, 1929, comrade Nguyen Duc Canh founded the Red General Confederation of Bac Ky (predecessor of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor) today.
In February 1930, he attended the Conference to establish the Communist Party of Vietnam and was assigned to hold the important responsibilities: Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee, Secretary of the Bac Ky Regional Party Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the Trung Ky Regional Party Committee. In charge of propaganda and training at the Standing Committee of the Trung Ky Regional Party Committee, Comrade Nguyen Duc Canh played an important role, together with the Trung Ky Regional Party Committee, building a system of Party newspapers from the region to the province and grassroots levels. In April 1931, he was arrested by the French colonialists in Vinh. Despite being tortured in many forms, he resolutely refused to confess. On July 31, 1932, he was executed by the French colonialists at the Hai Phong prison - which was later built into a memorial house for him.
The delegation respectfully offered incense and flowers to commemorate comrade Nguyen Duc Canh - the outstanding leader of the workers' movement and martyr Ho Ngoc Lan - a loyal party member of the Communist Party of Vietnam, together recalling the difficult but glorious and heroic days in the revolutionary activities of the two comrades.
