Right after the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year holiday, on the construction site of the Son Vi Commune Inter-level Boarding Primary and Secondary School project (Tuyen Quang province), the sound of machines was booming. Dozens of engineers and workers are constructing items according to the design.
Son Vi Inter-level Boarding School has a total investment of more than 211 billion VND, started construction from the end of 2025, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. With a scale of 31 classes, this project will meet the needs of studying and boarding for over 1,000 students.
The project includes 14 items including theoretical classroom buildings and elementary and secondary school subjects (3 floors), administration buildings, male and female dormitories, teacher dormitories and other technical and auxiliary infrastructure items.
For Son Vi border commune, which is particularly difficult in Tuyen Quang province, having a multi-level boarding school built spaciously and modernly for ethnic minority children to study and live is a long-held desire.
Mr. Vang Seo Pu (Son Vi commune) said that the commune's area is large, mainly divided by hills and mountains, so it is very difficult for students to travel. Having a boarding school will help students study safely.
The hardest time is the rainy and flood season, children going to school are very worried, only afraid of landslides and floods. In the near future, there will be a new spacious school, children will be able to study safely, stay at school, and then parents will be assured to farm and raise cows," Mr. Pu said.
Currently, compensation and site clearance for the Son Vi inter-level boarding school project have been completed. Two items of 3-story classroom buildings for the primary school block have been completed with concrete foundation pouring, and the remaining items are continuing to dig foundations and fill foundations.
However, because the entire site is hard rock, the construction terrain is complex, traffic is far from the center, the weather conditions are harsh, and materials must be transported from afar, affecting the construction progress.
Inspecting the progress of this project, Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuan - Standing Vice Chairman of Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee requested relevant units to focus on overcoming difficulties, ensuring construction safety and the project completion progress set out.
Inter-level boarding school is an important project for the education of the highlands, so units need to continue to uphold the spirit of responsibility, strictly control the quality of the project, and be determined to complete the project on time, meeting the teaching and learning requirements of the locality," Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuan emphasized.
In fact, due to limited land fund and difficult terrain, most of the inter-level boarding school projects in Tuyen Quang are being built in complex geological structures. Therefore, surveys and designs are carried out carefully and cautiously.
In particular, some boarding schools are being implemented in communes of the Dong Van Karst Plateau region, with steep terrain, many cat ear rocks, complex geological structures, limited land fund for construction, and potential risks of landslides and subsidence.
Mr. Phan Huy Ngoc - Chairman of Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee requested the survey unit and specialized agencies to carefully review the options for choosing construction locations. Conduct geological exploration and fully assess the ground conditions.
At the same time, clearly determine the level of impact of Cat-to Cave to have appropriate handling measures. Choose a safe location, avoid areas at risk of landslides and subsidence, meeting long-term requirements during use.
Up to now, Tuyen Quang province has started construction and deployed the construction of 6 boarding schools in border communes Son Vi, Thanh Thuy, Minh Tan, Xin Man, Pa Vay Su, Pho Bang.
The remaining 10 boarding schools in the communes: Sa Phin, Thang Mo, Bach Dich, Tung Vai, Nghia Thuan, Thang Tin, Ban May, Can Ty, Dong Van, Lung Cu are continuing to urgently prepare the conditions for commencement.
