28 free bus routes in Ho Chi Minh City on June 16 when paid by card

HCMC - Passengers traveling by bus will be exempted from tickets on June 16 if they pay via Mastercard/Visa card or e-wallet applications with card linkages.

According to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center, the free ticket program is applied on 28 subsidized bus routes, a total of 514 vehicles.

The program is for passengers using Mastercard/Visa cards (including prepaid cards - Prepaid cards, credit cards - Debit and credit cards - Credit) with contactless payment function via NFC. The card must still be valid and not be on the ticket debt list in the system.

In addition, mobile payment methods such as Apple Pay, Google Pay linked to Mastercard/Visa cards are also accepted.

Passengers just need to tap a card or device with an e-wallet connected to the T10 reader of the GoAFC automatic toll collection system on the bus. After confirming successful payment, the ticket printer will display the information line: "Authentic ticket price: 0 VND/trip" and " Free tickets on June 16 when paying by card".

The program applies to bus routes operated by three units: Saigon Passenger Transport Joint Stock Company, City Transport Joint Stock Company and Transport Cooperative No. 26.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City operates 138 bus routes with a total of more than 2,200 vehicles. Nearly 1,000 buses in the city have applied the cashless payment model and are expected to increase to more than 2,000 vehicles in the coming time.
