On February 5, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung - Deputy Minister of Construction and the State Inspection Council on construction work acceptance had a working session with Project Management Board 2 and related entities to the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway project to give opinions on putting this project into operation to serve people traveling during the Tet peak.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung affirmed that the general spirit is to complete all relevant dossiers and procedures to soon put the project into operation, ensuring safe and smooth travel for people, especially during the peak of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung informed that through inspection of the section about 43.8 km long (Km 1050+00 - Km 1084+315 (National Highway 24 intersection) and the section from Km 1128+530 - Km 1138+00), it was found that the main items of the project basically meet the requirements for quality, load-bearing safety and operating conditions, in accordance with the approved design documents. However, there are still some shortcomings and work needs to be completed, mainly related to traffic organization, traffic safety, construction hygiene and auxiliary items.
Concluding the working session, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, on behalf of the Council, unanimously approved the conditional completion acceptance results for the two route sections that have been inspected.
Approving the acceptance results for the above route sections is the basis for the investor to implement the next steps according to their authority, towards the goal of putting the project into operation. At the same time, it does not change the responsibility of the investor and contractors in ensuring the quality, safety, and long-term efficiency of the project," the Deputy Minister emphasized.
Regarding the remaining section from Km 34+315 - Km 78+530, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung acknowledged the spirit and determination of the relevant subjects when proposing the Council to consider and accept it as a legitimate request.
To ensure acceptance conditions according to regulations, it is necessary to organize full inspection of procedures. In the spirit of putting the entire project route into operation, the Council unanimously assigned the standing agency to coordinate with the expert team and relevant agencies to continue to organize inspections immediately. After completion, summarize the report and propose for the Council to consider," Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung directed.
Reporting at the working session, Mr. Le Thang - Director of Project Management Board 2 said that the acceptance of construction work during the construction process was carried out fully; the results of testing, inspection, and accreditation ensured the technical requirements according to the construction design regulations.
Regarding speed limit signs on the entire route, 90/60 km/h has been installed. Based on the opinions of the Vietnam Road Administration, we will change it to 90/80/60 km/h and complete it before February 10.
The investor and contractor are committed to focusing on thoroughly overcoming the above problems. Request the Council to continue to inspect, consider, and approve the acceptance of the remaining sections (excluding Duc Pho intersection) so that the project can open to traffic and temporarily operate the entire main expressway," Mr. Thang proposed.
Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway is 88 km long, with the starting point intersecting with Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway and the ending point intersecting with Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon expressway. The project has a total investment of about 20,400 billion VND invested by Project Management Board 2. Construction started on January 1, 2023 and opened to traffic on December 19, 2025.
