On December 19, 2025, after more than 1,000 days of efforts to overcome difficulties, the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway project was officially completed, 8 months ahead of schedule. The project is an important piece on the North-South expressway connecting Lang Son to Ca Mau, contributing to the goal of forming 3,000 km of expressways nationwide.

The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway is 88 km long, the longest section of the 12 component projects of the North - South Expressway in the period of 2021 - 2025. The project has a total investment of more than 20,400 billion VND, passing through Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces, invested by Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Construction), a consortium of contractors headed by Deo Ca Group.
In particular, there are three tunnels across the mountain on the route with a total length of 4,500 m. Of which, Binh De tunnel is 3,200 m long, the largest newly built expressway tunnel on the entire North - South expressway, along with 77 overpasses, 6 interconnecting intersections, 729 culverts and 85 underpasses for people.
The project was started by the Prime Minister on January 1, 2023. According to the contract signed between the investor and the construction contractor, the project is expected to be completed in September 2026. However, during the progress check-up and encouragement for workers on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, the Prime Minister requested to strive to complete the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon route by the end of 2025, contributing to the goal of having 3,000 km of expressway nationwide, connecting from Lang Son to Ca Mau.
To achieve that goal, Deo Ca Group has mobilized more than 4,000 personnel, nearly 1,800 machines and equipment; organized construction day and night, including holidays and Tet. During the implementation process, the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway is not only a technical or progress problem, but also a journey of nearly 3 years to overcome unprecedented challenges.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Ngo Truong Nam - General Director of Deo Ca Group expressed that when receiving the largest project of the 12 component projects of the North - South Expressway in the period of 2021 - 2025, Deo Ca Group understood that this was not only a construction task, but a national mission.
The project passes through many complex terrain areas, with a large construction volume and urgent progress. Contractors face many difficulties, from site clearance, material sources, harsh weather, to challenges in sharing and understanding of relevant parties.

Dozens of construction points have been added, hundreds of machines have been strengthened; many technical improvements have been applied; tens of billions of VND have been spent by the contractor to improve the quality of the road surface, shorten the tunnel construction progress, and advance compensation costs, and share with local people.
The leaders of the Ministry of Construction check the site every month, accompany the locality, investors, and contractors to remove each bottleneck in terms of site clearance and material sources.
The leaders of Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh provinces (now Gia Lai) took drastic action, especially in the most stressful and difficult times.
