The highway will reach Dat Mui
The expressway from Ca Mau city to Dat Mui was commented by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Notice No. 563/TB-VPCP dated December 19, 2024 of the Government Office.
Accordingly, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Transport to urgently review, update and add the route to the Vietnam road network planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 (investment progress before 2030), as a basis for implementation; coordinate with the People's Committee of Ca Mau province to complete the investment procedures for the route (calculate the most direct and shortest route), assign the People's Committee of Ca Mau province to manage the project investment according to the provisions of law (Ca Mau province allocates local budget to carry out site clearance work), strive to start the project in 2025.
According to the plan, the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway will run parallel to National Highway 1 and Ho Chi Minh Road to Rach Goc town, then to Dat Mui (Ngoc Hien district). This planning direction aims to take advantage of the formation and effective development of the Hon Khoai General Seaport in the future.
Along with the East-West axis routes, the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway will be a pillar for the development of the marine economy, exploiting the potential and strengths of the southernmost point of the country, firmly ensuring national defense and security....
Joy not only of Ca Mau
Mr. Tran Hieu Hung - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province - said that the connecting Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway not only contributes greatly to the socio-economic development of the southernmost province of the country, but also creates a premise for Ca Mau tourism to accelerate.
"If before it took 4 hours to go from Can Tho to Ca Mau, after the highway is completed and put into use, it will be shortened to just over 1 hour. Especially in the future, if there is a highway to Dat Mui, Ca Mau tourism will attract a lot of tourists. Because currently, it takes more than 4 hours to go and return from Ca Mau to Dat Mui," said Mr. Hung.
Not only the tourism industry, but other economic sectors also benefit greatly from this route.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - a business owner in Ganh Hao (Dong Hai district, Bac Lieu province) - said: "The highway to Dat Mui, there will definitely be a road leading from Nam Can or Song Doc. I go from Ganh Hao along the East - West route through Song Doc and then get on the highway to Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City is very close".
Aquaculture in Ca Mau and Bac Lieu provinces is considered the largest in the country. In addition to shrimp and fish, crab is also at the top. The raw material areas for shrimp, crab and fish of the whole country are concentrated in Ca Mau and Bac Lieu. If the highway reaches Dat Mui, it will open up opportunities for the aquaculture industry here to develop strongly.
