Pursuant to Resolution No. 1252/NQ-UBTVQH15 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Ca Mau province in the period of 2023 - 2025, on November 30, the People's Committee of Ca Mau city announced the merger of administrative boundaries in the area and launched the political system after the arrangement.
According to Resolution 1252, Ca Mau city will merge the natural area and population size of Ward 2 (with a natural area of 0.25 km2, population of 6,748 people); part of Ward 9 (with a natural area of 0.57 km2, population of 4,116 people) and part of Ward 4 (with a natural area of 1.61 km2, population of 12,614 people) to form a new ward called Ward 2.
For Ward 9, after arrangement, the natural area is 6.47 km2 and the population is 14,205 people.
Along with that, adjust the remaining natural area of 0.27 km2, population size of 146 people of Ward 4 to merge into Tan Xuyen Ward. After adjustment, Tan Xuyen Ward has a natural area of 20.70 km2 and population size of 9,838 people.
After the arrangement, Ward 2 has a natural area of 2.43 km2, a population of 23,478 people and is headquartered at the old Ward 4 People's Committee headquarters.
On the same day, Ca Mau city also completed its personnel for continuous operation. Mr. Tran Vinh Thuan was appointed as Party Secretary and Chairman of Ward 2 People's Council; Mr. Le Thanh Tuan was appointed as Chairman of Ward 2 People's Committee.
After the arrangement, Ca Mau city will have 16 grassroots administrative units, including 9 wards and 7 communes, including: Ward 1, Ward 2, Ward 5, Ward 6, Ward 7, Ward 8, Ward 9, Tan Thanh ward, Tan Xuyen ward and communes: Tac Van, Tan Thanh, An Xuyen, Dinh Binh, Hoa Tan, Hoa Thanh and Ly Van Lam.
Previously, on November 28, Phu Tan district also announced the adjustment of a part of the natural area of 1.43 km2, with a population of 578 people of Nguyen Viet Khai commune to merge into Cai Doi Vam town. After the adjustment, Cai Doi Vam town has a natural area of 24.00 km2 and a population of 18,926 people.
After adjusting administrative boundaries, Nguyen Viet Khai commune has a natural area of 107.05 km2 and a population of 17,363 people.
After the arrangement, the number of administrative units in Phu Tan district has not changed, still 9 commune-level administrative units, including 8 communes and 1 town.
