Improved transportation
Han Market in Hai Chau District, Da Nang City is one of the city's largest markets with about 800 businesses. This year, Han Market has restored traffic order on the surrounding streets, helping visitors comfortably walk, visit and shop conveniently. In particular, smooth traffic has helped this place score points with international visitors. To ensure traffic safety and avoid congestion, the city government has also requested a limit on pick-up and drop-off times at Han Market.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh - Head of Han Market Management Board - said: “Han Market has a very special location because it has 4 very airy facades. That is because we have organized sidewalk division lines, from here creating boundaries so that traders can only place and trade goods within the permitted area. The rest is reserved for pedestrians.”
According to Mr. Thanh, when any household violates or does not trade in the right place, the Market Management Board will remind, handle and finally suspend trading activities.
However, at present, Han Market does not have a parking lot, so many tourists and residents do not know where to park their vehicles when shopping at Han Market. If people park their vehicles on the roadside or sidewalk, the authorities will handle it. Therefore, the Han Market Management Board has coordinated with relevant authorities to jointly handle traffic safety violations around Han Market.
Tourists increase
Last October, the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Transport to urgently complete related procedures to soon deploy the installation of a traffic light system for pedestrians to ensure safety for pedestrians crossing Bach Dang, Nguyen Thai Hoc - Han market area. Continue to install cameras in Han market area, adjust traffic organization along Bach Dang and Tran Phu streets.
The People's Committee of Da Nang City assigned the Department of Tourism to continue working with the Tourism Association, Travel Association, Tourism Transport Association, Tour Guide Association, and travel agencies to request commitments and implementation of the policy of stopping passenger vans to pick up and drop off passengers with a stop time of no more than 5 minutes at Bach Dang Street - Han Market area and to arrange tourism programs to Han Market at different times to avoid concentrating at one time, causing overload and traffic jams.
Ms. Hue, a souvenir vendor at Han Market, said: “Since the installation of red lights and demarcation lines, the roads around Han Market have become more open. Tourists can also see their goods in the market when traveling on the roads.”
According to Ms. Hue, the clear roads and sidewalks also attract more tourists. Tourists also stay at Han Market to shop for longer periods of time.
