On the afternoon of August 4, Mr. Ho Van Muoi - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee and the provincial working delegation inspected the ground at Lien Khuong International Airport, assessed the progress of repairing and upgrading items and the preparation for putting the airport back into operation.
At the scene, the working group inspected the runway area, aircraft parking area, passenger terminal and operational items.
Representatives of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and Lien Khuong International Airport reported on the construction progress, completion of technical conditions, ensuring aviation security and safety, and passenger service capacity.
After actual inspection, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi requested the investor, construction unit and relevant agencies to focus maximum manpower and equipment, take advantage of favorable weather to accelerate progress but must ensure the quality of the project.
Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi emphasized that units need to carefully review each item, fully complete technical, security, and safety conditions, and prevent any negligence affecting the plan to reopen the airport.
At the same time, preparation work must be carried out synchronously, creating favorable and safe conditions for passengers and airlines when operating.
As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported: According to the plan, Lien Khuong International Airport will reopen from August 19, 2026 after a period of temporary suspension of operation to serve the construction of the upgrade project.
It is expected that in the initial phase, the airport will operate an average of 36-40 flights to and from each day, connecting with localities including Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Vinh, Can Tho and Hai Phong.
The Da Lat - Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) international route is also expected to be restored with a frequency of 8 round-trip flights per week.
In the first day of reopening, Lien Khuong International Airport is expected to serve about 28 inbound and outbound flights.
The completion of the upgrade project and putting new infrastructure into operation is expected to improve aircraft reception capacity, meet passenger transportation needs and contribute to promoting tourism, socio-economic development of Lam Dong province and the Central Highlands region.
