Lam Dong - The Provincial People's Committee requests units to strengthen inspection and handling of UAVs, flycams and flying objects entering prohibited areas, ensuring flight safety.

On July 9, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province said that it had issued a document requesting departments, branches, localities and Lien Khuong International Airport to strengthen solutions to prevent unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), flycams, kites and other flying objects that threaten flight security and safety.

The Provincial Police presides over and coordinates with the Provincial Military Command, Lien Khuong International Airport and related units to build a standing coordination mechanism to receive, verify, and handle cases of UAVs and flycams entering prohibited and restricted airspace areas; and at the same time strengthen patrols, inspections, and strictly handle violations.

The Provincial Military Command is assigned to review no-fly zones, restricted no-fly zones; monitor, supervise and handle situations related to the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles according to its authority.

The Provincial People's Committee requests departments and branches to promote propaganda on regulations on aviation security and safety, especially in schools, tourist areas, amusement parks and places that regularly use flycams.

Educational institutions, especially in the area near Lien Khuong airport, must disseminate to students, teachers, and parents about the risk of flight unsafety and legal consequences of using UAVs, flycams or flying kites in prohibited areas.

Localities in the vicinity of the airport are assigned to organize a peak period of inspection, promptly detect and prevent cases of using UAVs and flycams against regulations.

Lien Khuong International Airport is responsible for coordinating with the police, military and local authorities in monitoring and handling arising situations; and at the same time publicize a hotline to receive feedback on acts that may affect flight safety.

As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported: After a period of temporary closure for repair and upgrade of the runway and taxiway system, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) said that it has sent a document to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) proposing a plan to bring Lien Khuong International Airport back into operation from 0:00 on August 19.

The expected resumption of operation of Lien Khuong airport is expected to restore routes connecting Da Lat, Lam Dong with major economic and tourist centers across the country, meeting the travel needs of people and tourists.
