Many years ago, people living in the Nguyen Hoang street area often complained about the damaged road surface, affecting vehicle owners when traveling here.
This road is about 1.1km long but has dozens of potholes. It was temporarily patched with cement for people to travel, but after a while, everything went back to normal.
The last road repair was in September 2023, but by the end of 2024, the road continued to deteriorate. In addition, littering, high tides, and a weak drainage system have caused environmental pollution, making the road shabby and unsightly.
In November 2024, to ensure the safety of people, Thu Duc City decided to upgrade and expand Nguyen Hoang Street.
The project started on November 22, 2024 with a total investment of more than 4.5 billion VND from socialized sources.
The road has been upgraded and expanded to about 7m wide. The road surface is paved with asphalt, ensuring smooth traffic safety for 5 years.
A representative of the People's Committee of An Phu Ward said that the road was under construction continuously for 57 days and nights and is now completed and open to traffic.
The completion of road expansion before Tet is the effort of An Phu ward with the sharing of units and benefactors.
"I have asked the ward community supervision board to continue to monitor the quality of the project after it is put into operation, ensuring the quality according to the design, and at the same time requesting the construction unit to be responsible for warranty and maintenance of the road," said a representative of An Phu ward.
According to the reporter's records in the first days when the road was just completed, people traveled more conveniently and comfortably.
The new asphalt road surface, wide and flat, has helped reduce traffic congestion and minimize traffic accidents caused by "potholes" in the past.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Lien (living in An Phu ward) said: "Before, when driving on the road at night, people who weren't careful often fell into the "potholes". Now the road is flat and wide like this, so I feel secure."
