On December 10, Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh and his delegation worked on the progress of the Long Thanh airport project in Dong Nai province.
Reporting at the meeting, a representative of the Department of Construction Investment Management - Ministry of Transport said that the Long Thanh airport project has 4 component projects.
In which, with component project 1 - the headquarters of agencies and units, currently 3 headquarters including the Airport Authority, the Immigration Department and the local police are planned to be completed before December 31, 2025. The Customs headquarters is planned to be completed in June 2026. The Animal and Plant Quarantine Station is being deployed.
Component project 2 - air traffic control works, has one completed construction package, 2 construction and installation packages are being implemented, meeting the schedule, expected to be completed in September 2025; 5 specialized equipment packages are selecting contractors, expected to be completed by December 31, 2025.
The investor representative also said that the Long Thanh airport air traffic control tower has completed the rough construction, about 2 months ahead of schedule.
Component project 3 - construction of taxiways and runways is scheduled to be completed by April 30, 2025.
Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh requested the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and contractors to focus maximum human and material resources to speed up progress; negotiate with contractors to purchase equipment to bring it in as soon as possible, completing the Long Thanh airport passenger terminal before December 31, 2025.
Regarding the second runway, the National Assembly has just approved the investment policy, the Minister requested the investor and relevant units to promptly implement the procedures, if necessary, appoint contractors with experience in constructing the first runway to shorten the progress and must complete before December 31, 2025.
The Minister also requested the leaders of Dong Nai province to support the licensing of material mines to construct roads to the airport. At the same time, carry out site clearance work to construct a fuel pipeline from Go Dau port to Long Thanh airport.
