According to this Decision, the upgraded road is about 14.588 km long, with a total investment of 495 billion VND. The project is implemented in the 2026-2029 period. The starting point is at Km0+00 intersecting with the Ho Chi Minh road (Western branch) in A Vuong commune. The ending point is at Km14+588, connecting to the urban road of Tay Giang commune that has been upgraded and expanded.
The project investment aims to gradually complete the transport infrastructure of the western mountainous area of the city, strengthening connectivity from the Ho Chi Minh road to the Tay Giang sub-border gate area. This is considered an important traffic route serving travel and cargo transportation needs, while creating motivation for socio-economic development, border trade and ensuring national defense and security in the region.
At this time, Da Nang and Sekong province of Laos are strengthening coordination to promote the upgrading of the Tay Giang - Ka Lum sub-border gate into the main border gate before 2030.
Previously, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Phan Thai Binh and Chairman of the Sekong Provincial People's Committee had a bilateral survey in the Tay Giang - Ka Lum sub-border gate area. Participating in the working delegation were representatives of departments, branches and relevant authorities of the two localities.
At the survey, leaders of the two sides exchanged contents related to coordination and preparation of necessary conditions to advise the Governments of Vietnam and Laos to consider upgrading border gates in the coming time.
The working delegation also conducted field surveys, determined the scope of the border gate area, and reviewed favorable locations to serve planning work. The parties agreed to determine specific coordinates to serve as a basis for adjusting the planning of Tay Giang - Ka Lum border gate and preparing a plan for the construction of the main border gate in the future.
Leaders of Da Nang and SEKONG province affirmed that they will continue to closely coordinate and accelerate relevant procedures to report to the competent authorities of the two countries for consideration. The completion of transport infrastructure and upgrading of border gates is expected to expand trade space, promote border gate economic development, strengthen cooperation between the two localities and contribute to building a border area of peace, friendship, stability, and development.
