On December 19, Da Nang held a groundbreaking ceremony for the National Highway 14B Intersection with the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway in Ba Na commune.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Ho Ky Minh - Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee affirmed that this is one of the key projects to celebrate important political events of the country and the city.
"When completed, the project will not only reduce traffic pressure for the western area of the city but also open up new space for socio-economic development for the city and the whole region. This is the effort and determination of the Party Committee and the city government in concretizing the Party's resolutions on infrastructure development and improving the quality of life for people", Mr. Minh emphasized.
To ensure the project's progress, the leaders of Da Nang City. Da Nang City requested the Project Management Board and contractors to focus on human resources, machinery, construction to ensure quality, technical and labor safety. At the same time, it is recommended that local authorities and people in the area agree and create favorable conditions for the construction unit to complete the project on schedule.
According to the design, the intersection is invested in the form of another level of interconnection. The project will make the most of the built section of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway, while adding new items to ensure the highest handling capacity.
Specifically, on National Highway 14B, the construction unit will build an expressway overpass with a variety of cross-sections from 23.1m to 34m (depending on each section), ensuring 4 to 6 lanes for motor vehicles and mixed lanes.
For the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway, the project will take advantage of and expand the existing bridge at Km78+144.31. At the same time, expand the underpass section to connect indirect left turn branches, ensuring consistency with the scale of the Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan expressway under implementation. The project has a total investment of more than 537.6 billion VND.
The traffic system at the intersection will include 4 direct right turns (completioned from the invested part) and 4 new indirect left turns. All branches are designed with a width of 8m to 10.5m, ensuring safety for vehicles changing lanes and entering lanes.
According to the plan, the entire intersection will use a high-power LED lighting system (from 120W to 200W) with more than 200 steel poles of all kinds. In particular, the lighting system will have 4 smart control boxes, directly connected to the City Public Lighting Control Center for synchronous operation.
The drainage system is also carefully calculated by extending existing culverts and building new vertical drainage systems and retaining walls, ensuring stable operation of the project.
According to the plan, the project is expected to be completed and put into use in June 2027.
The investor and project operator is the Da Nang Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board. The unit that surveyed and designed the construction drawings is the Joint Venture of Traffic Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 5 and Macshinco Design Consulting Joint Stock Company.
The project construction bid was won by the consortium of DACINCO Construction Investment Company Limited and Nhat Huy Construction and Trading Company Limited.
On the same day, the People's Committee of Da Nang City also simultaneously started construction of 4 other projects in the area to celebrate the Party Congress.
Specifically, the projects to start construction include: Social housing project for apartment land No. 5 - area B - residential area of Cam Le bridge, high-quality care and treatment center project of Da Nang C Hospital, investment project for construction and business of infrastructure of sub-area B - Nam Thang Binh Industrial Park, investment project to expand radial truck tire factory.
